AFAIK, if the vehicle in front is more than 350 feet away, you can use your high beams. Anything below that, you should hit your low beams.

March 25th, 2009 11:32 AM #16Palagi ding nangyayari sa akin ito. Hindi ko alam kung bulag ba yung mga drivers na ganon or they are just incosiderate pricks. That happens to me everyday in all roads. Meron minsan, on MacArthur hiway going back to Manila, a driver of a Fuzion was having a hard time overtaking a bus. All he was doing was playing with his HID light putting it to hi and low beams. I managed to overtake him after lots of tries since everytime I wanted to overtake, he blocks my path and tries to but too chicken to proceed while the incoming vehicle is still far, and when he was at my back, he also did the same thing to me. Sometimes even putting it to hi when there are no incoming vehicles considering he was only 2 cars away from me due to the long queue of cars. The same thing in NLEX. Even if the road is straight and they know that there are cars all over the road, some drivers don't even bother to put in low their lights anymore. Even in toll gates, some drivers are still putting their lights in high. At traffic lights, everywheres. The most annoying is when they couldn't overtake you but still in bright. The thing is, most cars that I observed doing that are those modern ones.

we are all in the same feeling here cause there are people who knowingly or unknowingly don't understand the rules, drive their own comfort or it's internal sa kotse nila. it happens cause :
1. heavy tint pati windshield so malabo ang visibility nila sa gabi. they try to compensate via high beam.
2. their driving a converted right hand drive were the headlight focused on the left.
3. busted low beam
4. girl driver na matanda na driving with eye glasses.
5. really dumb & stubborn.

Tsk.
