I have Both the D2S and D1S,D1R HID bulbs and their ballasts. I am planning to install this to my car but I am not sure of doing this for the follwing reasons:
1. I can not install it directly to the Headlight assy -- this is probably where I need the "adapter" you mentioned below or I need a new sets of headlight assy just to have this installed. Is there such an adapter as H4-to-D2R (or H4-to-D1R) adapter ?
2. Assuming i can have H4-to D1R/S adapter. The ballast is 35 watts only so I don't need install relays for this and these HID's i got has only single beam. Ths will confuse me how I will do my wiring as the ballast has only (+) and (-) terminals, should I just float my existing High Beam terminal?
I would appreciate any input you may throw in this.
Thanks in advance.
Originally posted by Ungas What I mean by 4000K - 6000K are color temperatures of light it produces not the actual price. HID kits are composed of ballast, bulbs and adapter kit for your headlight. Afaik, there are only two manufacturers of HID bulbs and ballasts, these are Philips and Hella, though the latter still buys ballasts from Philips to include them in their own package. A D2S or D2R bulb alone costs Php15,000-20,000. All kits are defined by what adapter is needed for the installation, basically plug ang play kits. Banawe shops do carry HID kits with H4 adapters.
Don't be mislead by HID imitation halogen bulbs. Maybe this is what orly_andico is indicating? High Intensity Discharge (HID) bulbs and Bi-Xenon gas charged are the same. They use D2S or D2R gas charge bulbs which is a big difference compared to halogen bulbs which use filament heat to produce light.

- There are adapters that will fit to common bulbs sold. Ranging from H1 to H7 even HB4 or HB7 headlights. Mas mahihirapan ka maghanap ng headlight assembly na magkakasya ang D2S or D2R bulbs, unless may bi-xenon lenses or assembly na gawa para sa modelo ng sasakyan.

- All HID ballasts are 35watts only, because the xenon gas charged bulbs are 35watts and not the same with your common halogen bulbs that has 100watts or higher. Afaik, the existing harness that came with the HID package should be enough to sustain the electricity it needs to operate. No need for relay upgrade, simply because it doesn't need one. Fusible links and existing fuse should protect your xenon charged bulbs from current surges.
- The adapter should have the extra wings to be able to use bright function, these wings will disperse more light rather than containing it. All D2S or D2R bulbs are single contact and will remain 35watts during operations. IF your adapter doesn't have the appropriate wings, then your existing kit should be operable on single beam only at low beam and no bright function. Unless your vehicle has quad bulb assembly which the inner bulbs should serve as your bright beam.
