my car is a 2002 chevrolet optra. earlier today i noticed pag baba ko ng kotse na yung brake lights hindi namamatay even though i had taken the keys out already. i double checked if my light switch was on "off", and sure enough, it was. i just jiggled the brake pedal a bit and eventually namatay na yung ilaw. akala ko ok na, but when i got home tonight, ganun ulit nangyari. i tried the pedal trick again but it didnt work. also tried starting and stopping the engine to no avail. finally, i decided to take out the brake light fuse to see if that could fix it. syempre namatay yung ilaw but when i put the fuse back in the lights just turned back on.

does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? brake lights lang talaga yung problema. the regular rear lights are fine, and so are all the other bulbs. i was thinking baka may naipit lang na wire or something because on the first incident eh gumana yung pag jiggle ko sa brake pedal.

i just removed the fuse for now para di ma-diskarga yung battery pero syempre ayaw ko naman iwanan lang ng ganun since driving without brake lights is quite dangerous.

any helpful ideas will be appreciated, i was hoping sana for a DIY solution para walang hassle sa pagpunta ng shop at and of course tipid na rin. thanks guys

There's a switch mechanism right above the pedal. Have it checked.... It just might be loose or misaligned....

tthere is a switch mechanism just right above the brake pedal,it could be stick due to rust or debris(dust)inside the switch or could be misalign, have it check and repair, lubricate if possible.

+1 on the switch above the brake pedal. You can try to lubricate or adjust it. It takes about a wrench and a few minutes to do it.

AFAIK, Djerms also had a stuck brake lamp switch on his Dmax.
