    not those advertised as HID-like....
on your second question, yes, as long as it is colored stock or near stock. recommended brands are osram and philips extreme.

If looking for brighter lights, the following are good choices. They all use stock wattage 55W/65W, are safe to use with plastic lenses and are fully road legal (except for Osram Fog Breaker).

Osram Fog Breaker* (For Off-Road Use only)
    2600K (Yellow)
    +200% more yellow
+60% more light on the road

    Osram All Season Super
    3200K (Selective Yellow)
+30% more light on the road

    Osram Night Breaker Plus
    3500K/3600K (depends on bulb type, e.g. H4 = 3600K, H7 = 3500K)
+90% more light on the road
    +35m longer beam
    +10% more white

    Philips X-treme Vision
    3350K
+100% more light on the road
    +35m longer beam

    Osram Night Breaker Unlimited
    3300K/3400K/3500K/3600K/3900K (depends on bulb type, e.g. H4 = 3900K, H7 = 3600K)
+110% more light on the road
    +35m/+40m longer beam (depends on bulb type, e.g. H4 = +35m, H7 = +40m)
    +20% more white

    Philips X-treme Vision +130
    3700K
+130% more light on the road
    +45m longer beam

    Kelvin Color Temperature Comparison

    1800K to 2000K = Candle Light
2700K = 60W Incandescent Bulb, Warm White LED
    3000K = Golden Light, Halogen
4000K = Natural White LED, Cool White Flourescent
4300K = White by Yellow Light HID
    5000K to 5200K = Daylight
    5500k to 6500K = Cool White LED
6000K = Deep White Light HID
8000K = White by Blue Light HID
    12000K = Blue HID
    15000K = Purple HID

    How about high-wattage 90W/100W bulbs?

Although high-wattage versions are available, they are not approved for use on public roads. They may be used only in off-road vehicles such as rally cars.

Using high-wattage bulbs may require you to modify your wirings. They can also damage plastic lenses.

    How about HIDs?

In most countries, it is not legal to use after market HID lighting kits for converting conventional Halogen headlamps to HID Xenon. If someone wants to convert his vehicle to Xenon HID, he must purchase completely new Xenon HID headlamps.

In the Philippines, there is pending regulation in LTO that prohibits HID retrofit.

My suggestion still remains: If you have stock HID headlamps, then use HID. If you have stock Halogen headlamps, use Halogen.

What is your priority -- Longer life span or Brighter light for increased safety?

If longer life span is more important, just stick with regular halogen bulbs. They will not provide high output but will last longer than Osram NB and Philips XV lamps.

If optimum road illumination at night is more important, get Osram NB and Philips XV lamps. They will provide more light on the road and longer beam range for your safety.

Actual life span will of course depend on your usage. If you drive mostly during the day, or drive only a few hours at night or occasionally, then lamp life should not be a concern.

My Philips XV is already 21 months old and doing great but we drive mostly during the day.

currently using Philips Xtreme Vision 100% after one of bosch star bright light was busted (which I think never reached 2 year mark)

imo, the star bright is good for the price. though nothing different in terms of stock light, the Philips XV was 20-30% brighter and imo, is not worth the price jump

Kung plug and play HID projector like the Morimoto H1, pwede mo ibalik sa stock halogen setup by removing the projectors.

Bro jut instead of giving myself the headache of isolating the issue, bought a replacement assembly and new sets of bulbs instead. :-)

Ill just quote my sms to you earlier (edited *not so excited version hehehe)

bought replacement (non oem) headlight assembly for 3.2k php (oem was 8k pair)
Osram pair of 55w/60w for 500 php
    Labor, silicone etc.
Tip 200 php for my homeboys lol
Looks a lot better/cleaner than the projector
Btw pj headlight was apparently dirty and just needs cleaning (pati contacts), but OK nako dun sa replacement :-)
    Bro jut again, thanks!
