I accidentally hit the back end of our MPV when I was parking at the SSS public parking. Can I still file a claim regarding such even though it happened 4 months ago. Our CTPL is insured at Mercantile. What should we do? Need your advise, please. Thank you.

CTPL does not cover damages to your own car. You need comprehensive (full coverage) insurance for that.

I thought when we said CTPL, we mean our insurance is comprehensive? Sorry, newbie here.

Yes, we do have comprehensive insurance. Its our first ever claim. Going back to my concern, is there is any time period that we should file an own damaged say 4 months ago?

someone here already said, that their insurance policy specifically states that the claim must be filed no later than xx weeks.
see your policy, po. it might be printed there.
    and good luck.

CTPL = Compulsory Third Party Liability. This is basic requirement by LTO for car registration. You can get CTPL separately. It is different from Comprehensive Insurance.

If you are willing, you can just say the accident happened a few days ago ... Since there's no other party involved ... This is assuming your insurance and payments are up to date ... Check if you have Own Damage Insurance ... OD PD BI ETPL ...

i think most compre insurance policies cover "self-accidents".

It's been raining like hell for the past two weeks, and I park in the open. My neighbor is a big fat liar.

Thank you sir for the reply.

There is no specific time period for the claim for OD, but there is one for general accident which is as soon as possible.
I'll coordinate with our insurance agent and ask the same thing. thanks again.

An affidavit stating that you damaged it while reversing is enough ...

"self-accident." yung tipong, wala namang ibang kotseng natamaan kundi yung inyo. walang nasaktan maliban sa reputasyon ninyo.

I don't think if that will happen noh? For all I know, claim shall be filed within a week. Next time, be sure to properly protect yourself when it comes to liability for property damage and even bodily injury. Try to check this baka makatulong sayo Save On Your CTPL Insurance - Compare Prices

With or without OR/CR dapat pwede, kasi the reason na kumuha ka na effective on the date of purchase, para as soon as lumabas ka ng casa at nabangga, covered na.

Also, sa nego with insurance, they will ask only for sales invoice and vehicle numbers kung wala pa OR/CR to issue the policy and get paid

i have seen the casa do it in 3 days.
i have seen the same casa do it in 3 weeks.
one just has to be friendly with the casa.

Is there any time requirement for me to file a claim in our CTPL insurance, it's Own Damage 4 months ago.
