Hello guys, my car got flooded from Ondoy and it has AOG. It is still in the repair shop, the insurance already gave an LOA for the initial estimate, but the repair shop is still doing a full estimate, untill now they're still not finished in estimating the parts damage (although from the looks of it, it might end up as total loss). Is there a limit in time when the repair shop must submit the estimate to the insurance company? i'm afraid that the insurance might not accept the secondary estimate since it took so long. Also, is there going to be a problem filing the claim based on the revised estimate after january? my plate ends in 1 so the insurance and registration have to be renewed this jan but since it's still not working and is still in the repair shop i can't have it renewed.

If I were in your place, I would just insist on declaring the car as a total loss. It would save you time and effort on getting the car fixed. And flood damaged cars will still have problems that will happen months and years after the flooding incident.

Actually, we would gladly have the insurance declare it as total loss but of course we want the estimate to be properly done. We need to properly justify it to them to have it declared a total loss (the estimate is already at 125% of the cars market price). The problem is getting the estimate is quite slow and time consuming thus we're having this issue now.

Really depends sa insurance mo kung papayag sila total loss. Yung car ko under bpims, nakita lang nila na up to dashbaord ang baha, process na kaagad nila as total loss.

Yung car ko under standard insurance, more than 70% na yung estimated cost of repair ayaw pa rin ideclare at total loss.

You should complain to IC and demand settlement because ondoy so
months ago. you deserve the right service.

You can mention your other car insured with
Bank of the Philippine Island-Mitsui Sumitomo.

And stay with Mitsui Sumitomo, matatag yan. They partially own a
    number of Insurance Co. here.
