Hi good evening! We got into an accident, we were hit by a tricycle. We have comprehensive insurance. Insurance company has already approved the repair cost. They are asking for our "preferred shop" so that they can issue Letter of Authority.

    My question is:

    1. Does the repair needs to be done in casa?
    2. Can we claim the "repair cost" via cash or check and have it repaired somewhere else?

It's our first car and I don't know yet about the process or work around for instances like this. Insurance company said "participation fee" is payable to our preferred shop. My budget is tight and I would prefer if I don't have to shell out money.

I would appreciate any feedback. Dios Mabalos!

You can request to get cash/check instead sir. They will offer you an amount Less the participation fee and other fees as well. As long as the offer is fair you can convert your claim to cash. Don't be afraid to negotiate with the offer until both parties agree.

I work for an insurance company and the usual procedure is that they would want the car repaired with their accredited shops. You can ask them who are the accredited shops that would be convenient for you to go to. Some shops do pick up and deliver. No, you do not have to have it repaired at the CASA. In fact, the insurer would prefer that it be repaired with the 3 star or lesser shops since the cost would usually be lower for them.

If you ask for "cash" (in the form of a check) settlement, they would usually deduct the VAT and about 30% from the labor costs and sometimes a certain percentage from the parts. This will result in a smaller amount for you. Some insurers would also ask you to surrender any replaced parts before paying you in cash.

    Hope this helps.

I don't think you can claim cash, kasi the transaction will be between the insurance and repair shop. Then between you and the shop for the participation fee.

Don't know though kung may better way.

Kung dent lang and scratches, kaya i-repair yan, you save 1500. Most plastic bumpers are repairable basta walang malaking butas.

bumpers today are plastic/rubber. they do not rust. that means, it is forgiving, even if pintor is "not concours quality".
i would probably have the neighborhood pintor have a shot at it. no waiting na, fast work pa. 2-3K siguro..
you can probably have that finished in 2 days.
    sa casa.. 4-7 days siguro..
btw... some casas outsource some jobs, like paintjob and collision repair...

Question: nabangga kasi ako ng another car. Assessment from the casa for total repair was 151k. And then confused lang ako bakit Own Damage ang nature of claim samantalang complete kami ng police report clearly stating the other party was at fault. What to do? Salamat!

Minsan, habang ina-assess kung dapat palitan or sira, deduct muna nila sa LOA at indicate nila as "Reserve".

Question mga boss, my car was hit by a motorcycle. Got the plate and confirmed na ang driver ay minor at walang license. Since holiday nga at medyo malayo police station, baranggay kami nagpnta and agreed sya na magbayad ng 5k which is nasa akin na. Tapos nagpagawa ako police report para sa insurance claims, gusto ko sana palabasin hit and run para din di na lumake pa kaso prob daw sa record nila dahil open case, so ginawa na self inflicted ung damage sa police report, valid ba yun for a claim? Or kelangan ko mag ask for another 1? At affidavit? Thanks!!

Bakit kasi kung ano-anu pa dapat gusto mo I-file? Meron ka naman insurance

Kuha ka na lang ng totoong police report Kung ano nangyari then file it sa insurance mo. Tapos problema.
