    AFAIK that is true only for the resale values. for insurance, depending on what your policy states, they will give you near the purchase value. read the policy. my officemate who totalled her 1 year old car got a brand new replacement with waived participation fee.

    Ang nakalagay kasi sa policy 854k ang covered.
