When the BioFuels Act is implemented next month (on May 6?), 1% CME will be pre-blended in ALL diesel sold in the Philippines. This will lower harmful emissions; improve lubricity in injection pumps & nozzles; and, reduce our diesel consumption by 1%.

There are claims that 1% CME increases fuel mileage by 10-15% (or gives fuel savings of 10-15%) but these are largely un-proven because local chassis dynamometers needed for these tests are in-operational.

Let us help by determining our Fuel Consumption now (using 100% diesel) and later (using 1% pre-blended CME). By comparing before and after data, we can get indications of savings.

The indications may not be scientically acceptable but they will be good information. Not all biodiesels can deliver 10-15% Fuel Savings when added in minute percentages. Only CME can. By helping show this to the world, CME exports will increase & boost our economy. We also help in globally reducing emissions & saving on fuel.

My Terrano with a TD27 engine Turbo w/o intercooler, MT & 4WD gets 11.99km/L * 80kph with AC off in NLEX (Balintawak to Petron Lakeshore.)

Been using Biodiesel for like 4++ years na, started with Esterol. There is a slight improvement in fuel consumption, but the most noticeable is the smoother running of the engine as well as a lot less dirty emissions. I have an 8 year record of my fuel consumption with a 4d56 engine, but am lazy to recompute it for the latest figures, but the last time I did it, it's around 9.++ km/L, this includes both provincial and city driving.

This is to thank everyone who posted their Diesel Fuel Consumption data. I will summarize them later and let us study them.

My cousin just called: His 1996 Land Cruiser with 4.2L Turbo Diesel Engine gets 7-7.5 km/L in hiway and 6-6.5 km/L in city driving. AC on all the time on 100% diesel. He will try to get new data (still on 100% diesel) and then after the BioFuels Act is implemented.

Those who have the data or who can get them, please share your Diesel Fuel Consumption data with us.

Mine is a Crosswind XUV manual. If I go to Bacolod without observing proper (economy) driving technique, I get 11-12km/liter. i.e. reaching 120Kph and not turning off the vehicle while on park).
If I'm into economy run,(i.e. max speed is 95kph only, hitting the pedal lightly, turning off the vehicle when park) , I get 14.20km/liter. I'm using Petron diesel max all the time.

    Isuzu LS 95 (4JA1)

    city driving (QC-Ortigas travel) 11km/liter
    highway (Slex) 13-15km/liter

i seem to get less kms traveled around 1-2km/liter right after an oil change but after around 400kms, it goes back to the figures above. I think it runs farther on bad oil, hehehe

    i use Shell Diesel
