Maybe we should consider getting smaller cars like the Suzuki Alto, Chery QQ or Kia Picanto. Will people driving those big SUVs give up their rides and switch to more economical vehicles?

and diesel is now kissing 42 pesos.
We live in harsh times, and the future looks bleak.

This is what economic hardships are all about... Prices will rise and there will come a point where some people will have to give up on the use of gas (aka commute na lang) but there will come a sweet spot where the price is already too high that demand suffers greatly and there prices should come down again. What's the sweet spot I don't know but these are just normal economic cycles of boom and bust happening...

May 3rd, 2008 11:12 PM #26i have studied the pros and cons eh. i wanted to replace my aging 1st gen CRV to a yaris last year. pero sa nabasa ko sa yaris thread, in 3-5 months kung anu-ano na kalampag naririnig nila sa pang-ilalim nila. count another 6 months to a year mo, magpapalit na ng mga bushings or shocks mga mini-car owners.
if i'm going to weigh everything, mas tipid pa din ang SUV kaysa sa mini-car overall bec. of our road conditions. my CRV is now 9 years (since 99) and now at 83Tkm. would you believe all-stock pa din mga pang-ilalim ko, shocks, radiator, fans etc etc. except for some twice replacement of bushings.
kaya ako definitely rule out ko na mga mini-cars. matipid ka nga sa gas pero tatagain ka naman sa pagpapalit ng pyesa bec. of Philippine road conditions.
the best talaga ang 2-cars than one kasi na-alternate mo in a week, so less chances masira kagad
mas the best ang 2-suvs than one kasi na-alternate mo na, handa ka pa sa araw-araw ng gyera sa kalsada and potholes and jeepney swerving etc
pero ang pinaka the best talaga para sa'kin is 2 CUV's na CRDi, maliit na kaha ng SUV tapos diesel pa.
for example Captiva + Tucson
Tucson + Sportage
yan ang the best ngaun, panglaban halos sa lahat ng forces, both market and environmental
so yun bago bibili dyan tsikot, consider this combo
