if you have more tips just add it na lang

    1. Aggressive driving this is a NO-NO (rapid acceleration and braking) sources said you can save 30% of gas if you avoid this. also its muchs safer for you and your passenger.
I say pa-tanggal nyo na yung mga tingga sa paa nyo and replace it with Helium..

    2. Observe Speed Limit!! - certain cars have different speed limit but ussually gas mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 96kmh.

    3. Remove Excess Weight - Oh my that subwoofer will have to go!! Avoid keeping unnecessary items in your car, especially heavy ones. An extra 100 pounds in your vehicle could reduce your Km/L by up to 2%. The reduction is based on the percentage of extra weight relative to the vehicle's weight and affects smaller vehicles more than larger ones.
hehehe tell your GF/WIFE to lose weight hahaha natawa ka?
    ikaw din magreduce ka na!!!

    4. Avoid Excessive Idling - Idling gets 0 Km per Liter. if you have to wait for more than minute switch off that engine :P,
and dont DO IT sa car!! mahal na ang GAS!!
baka paglabas ng anak mo may TAG na Made in HONDA

    5. Keep Your Engine Properly Tuned - Fixing a serious engine problem, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your mileage by as much as 40 percent.
Wow!! 40% pwede na yan masasave mo dyan to avoid excessive idling

    6. Check & Replace Air Filters Regularly - Replacing a clogged air filter can improve your car's gas mileage by as much as 10 percent.
hehehe baka may kamote na yan linisin na yan!!

    7. Keep Tires Properly Inflated - You can improve your gas mileage by around 3.3 percent by keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure. Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage by 0.4 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires. Properly inflated tires are safer and last longer.

    8. Use the Recommended Grade of Motor Oil - You can improve your gas mileage by 1-2 percent by using the manufacturer's recommended grade of motor oil. For example, using 10W-30 motor oil in an engine designed to use 5W-30 can lower your gas mileage by 1-2 percent. Using 5W-30 in an engine designed for 5W-20 can lower your gas mileage by 1-1.5 percent.
so stop using race car oil on a daily car

    9. Planning and Combining Trips - Combining errands into one trip saves you time and money. Several short trips taken from a cold start can use twice as much fuel as a longer multipurpose trip covering the same distance when the engine is warm. Trip planning ensures that traveling is done when the engine is warmed-up and efficient.
With a little planning, you can avoid retracing your route and reduce the distance you travel as well. You'll not only save fuel, but also reduce wear and tear on your car.
kaya pag nag GF ka dont choose North and South dapat South and South

    10. if all else fails buy a Jazz or City hehehehehe

    You can add this...

    DIY Fuel Economy Gauge:

Consider it a visual guide on how light/deep you can step on the gas pedal.

    Yung number 10 sobrang biased!

Pwede rin buy a diesel fed car.

Most expensive alternative for number 10, buy a Toyota Prius or Lexus CT200h

tsaka yung bago magtake off pinapainit muna makina, kasi diba finifeed pa nang gas for idling yung engine, pag andar take off na ehe

One more thing to add to this almost complete list.....

Remove your roof rack, especially if you have a basket.

Nice job on compiling the list, though!

    Ciao!

That is under remove excess weight. A lot of things can be done to remove excess weight which includes removing your spare tire for short trips and bringing a tire puncture sealer instead (from around 10++ kilos to 200 grams!). Marami pa like removing ricey decors (body kits with little or no function except decorative), rain guards, heavy or multiple floor mats, too many tool kits, etc.

Originally, I was referencing air resistance of the roof rack, rather than the weight of it.

I did read a study about this a few months ago, that upwards of 10% increase in fuel consumption savings can be had by this simple step of removing the roof rack when not needed.

Air resistance is really a BIG factor along with excess weight in wasting fuel.

Other items that affect air resistance are such items as lowered windows rather than fully closed, a pick-up tailgate that is raised with no load in the back. Some wind resistant wheel covers, etc.

    Every little bit helps.

    Ciao!

    Uncle Nick.

There was a study also that lowering your windows vs using the A/C will just consume the same Fuel in long-distance travelling. But if lower you're window by just a bit (esp if you have raingutter installed), it will help your FC.

Indeed wind resistance is a factor that is why for example trailers preferably should use deflectors.

I agree Bro, removing some unnecessary weight. It also give me good point about leaving my spare during short distance travelling. For me in the province, it is not much a risk because without spare tire and being caught is a violation cost you 150Php!

My analysis is, everybody is free to choose what ever manner they want in order to save fuel, but everything have their own consequences.
    1. Controlling acceleration is a natural way of effective Fuel consumption, but it will make you sluggish during your trip and it will irritate your co driver specially during the traffic.
    2. Proper maintenance is a scientific approach, but you need to be attentive to every detail like the tire press, preventive maintenance (engine tune up, filter cleaning, wheel balansing, wheel allignment...).
    3. Driving discipline, this is also a hard part. must consider trip planning, possible shortest & fastest route, feasibility study and keeping records.

Altering your Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) is not a feasible plan for saving fuel consumption (FC) because it have already intial cost and maintenance, unless you're quite a scientist to experiment things (that would be a the case).

For me, being natural driver like if I need to save fuel I will save in a natural method. If I need speed because time is important that time, I will sacrifice my FC. Then, a monthly check up & maintenance to my car must be my habbit, or else depreciation will cary on fast & effective!

    My record shows;
    FC = 10.2KPL (6mos of use 7182Km & 705Li)
    KPL = 17 (highest), 8 (lowest)
Tire Tread wear is 1mm per 8000km (need to allocate tire budget after 32,000Km or 2yrs)
Change oil (synthetic) = every 8mos due to change in oil color and appearance (done every month)
Tire rotation = every 8000Km (in my case, some advice is at least before 6000miles or 9600Km)
Tire balansing = every 8000Km (some advice is if you change tire)

Hope this will help my fellow car owner.

...lastly. A good driver uses his brakes. An experienced driver is able to make without using his brakes a great deal and yet be perfectly safe!

I think this is one of the biggest adjustments I had to make when I recently shifted from M/T to A/T. Parang wala akong ginawa kundi mag-brake ever since I started driving A/T.
