Hi fellow Tsikoteers. I'm just curious whether or not turbocharged engines are less fuel efficient than normally aspirated ones. Please enlighten me. TY.
Two reasons why they're less fuel efficient than n/a engines:
1. Lower static compression ratio
2. More fuel is wasted out of the exhaust to drive the turbo.
Are you asking if NA engines retrofitted with turbos will be more fuel hungry or are you asking if factory turbo engines consume more gas then NA engines?
