There are two products sa Wurth, the aluminum coated Bitumen pads are for sound DEADENING, meaning it is used to add mass to a surface cancelling its resonance and drone. This mat is completely non-porous and designed to be applied directly to metal surfaces such as fenders, doors, firewall, etc. You'll probably see these sheets on your factory car's trunk floor, near the tranny tunnel, etc.
Then comes the Sound PROOFING lining sheets made of polyurethane, designed to reduce sound transfer and temperature insulation. This is usually installed by the factory near the upper part of the firewall, headliner, hoodliner and such.
one big problem with those...it also traps moisture.. hence.. kalawang ka in the long run...
most problems of 123s are rust on spots where the original sound deadinings where placed.. usually floors, fender wells.... had these in my sedan before.. grabe ang kain ng kalawang...
Mike: There are different types of sound proofing, if applied correctly, the bitumen sheets can not trap water since there's no pocket of air in between the sheet metal and the product itself. If you place acoustifoam or something like that, then for sure it'll trap moisture. There are products that are meant for interior applications (most sound damping materials) and there are those meant for exterior applications.
May gumamit na ba sa inyo ng Flashband? yes yun yung ginagamit sa bubong...ginagamit din to ng mga Kotse Audio Club peeps sa mga sound setups nila..ok din daw sound deadening
