Petron Diesel "might" be Euro5 compliant once the upgraded refinery starts working. Petron is targetting Malaysia and Asia Pacific. This information is from Petron Chairman and CEO Ramon S. Ang

    Euro5 is 10PPM (sulphur content)
    Euro4 is 50PPM
    Euro3 is 150PPM
Euro2 is 500PPM (current diesel grade in Philippines)

    -less pollution
    -Thai spec engnes
-[0.5 to 2] Peso price increase?

January 2015 might be the release of these new fuels.

Petron has already asked Kuwait to supply an additional 55,000barrels per day starting January 1, 2015.

I bet that if they ever implemented this, they again would have a double standard with jeepneys and buses exempt from the 15-year old phase out scheme when in fact, they are the largest contributors of air pollution.

I'm willing to send my 2 vehichles (who passed emission testing legally with flying colors) to the trash bin as long as I don't see any vehicles that are 15 years old and up on the roads, this should be in the whole of the Philippines! 2T motorcycles should also be included and those trucks, buses, trailers, trailers everything as long as it is 15 years and above!

Euro5 Diesel might be the diesel product from the new refinery.

July 2015 is the unconfirmed release date.

Petron has no need to introduce Euro 5. What they're doing now is flooding the market with cheap fuel, resulting in many independents turning to Petron as their supplier.

The old status quo was that oil companies had few big wholesalers, who then distributed their fuel to smaller independents. Now, Petron is transacting directly with the small players, by offering lower prices since they eliminated the middleman. Now, the wholesale businesses of other oil companies are getting really affected. Heck, right now, even branded small players source their fuel from Petron because it's cheaper than importing from abroad.

Why is Petron flooding the market with cheap oil? Because they need to maintain a certain volume to maximize the economies of scale of their upgraded refinery in order to keep costs low. The volume from their 2,200 retail stations isn't enough to keep the refinery afloat.

Now, going for Euro 5 doesn't line up well with their current strategy. Euro 5 fuel will be about 2 pesos more expensive per liter. 99% of customers don't care - if you look at the bigger picture, fuel consumption is actually mostly for business use. Private users like us don't constitute the majority of the pie.

Lols maybe he meant I as incorporated? Or TMPC it is?

Anyway how come they are selling diesel max if that is dirty. Yeah i noticed also that this diesel are supposedly for pujs only as there are always signage at petron. Maybe they should come-up with a cleaner one coz its really unfair to us and to the environment that theres always an exception for PUJs.
