Is this true? I was under the impression that it was done under normal driving and traffic conditions.

From what I heard from a person who was part of that run in the support vehicle (a CRV), they rode at night and slept during the day, never went over 60 kph, no aircon and the cars were bare (no spare tire, no tools etc).

There was also a lead vehicle, checking the route if there was any traffic so that they would make some stops once in a while.

Actually Pocholo Ramirez got spmething like 23 km/L in mixed city/highway driving. Jazz/city cars in Honda's eco run are getting 30++ km/L in highway driving so i think that 23km/L mark is reachable to the average person.

I wanna join the contest if only i had a jazz 1.3L CVT.

Yup, for all their preparations, the mileage wasn't that spectacular. A 1.3 CVT Jazz/City could beat it by a good margin. A 1.1 Picanto could possibly do the same.

never reached 500 kms in my jazz... nagpapa-full tank na ako. but am only averaging 13-15 kms/liter... paano kaya maka 20+ km/liter.

Kakabitan ko ng Khaos, Vortex at kung ano-ano pang gadget para 150% fuel saving (meaning, magkakaroon pa ng additional gas ang tanke ko!)
