Ahh yes, nakikita ko yun. Usually pansin ko mga bumibili noon are professional motorcycle/car racers. Saw some buying by the drum.

Your GV's ECU will compensate for the lower octane rating being used. It will either retard or advance your ignition's timing. This will result in poorer gas consumption figures.

*yebo / redorange : errh.. that's what I was talking about... Although 98 RON should allow performance engines to run more aggressive timing... or less retardation, depending on how they were tuned at the factory, I think the power you get back from the 98 RON of Seail may be offset by the lower power you get from ethanol blend.

And yeah, there are some engines that are designed to run on lower octane fuel, like the older Accords. Some Japanese market engines specify 95 RON, though, and do lose a few hp by going down to a lower grade.

But as we don't seem to have really high octane gas, how are we to know?

Petron 100 Octane? I ought to try that out......just to see the effects.

RE: 95 Octane - 3ple4 - Okay lang ang regular unleaded. Tama si n2knee, your car is supposed to have a knock sensor that retards timing and lowers power output for lower octane gasoline. In other words, it may or may not feel more sluggish, but it shouldn't be damaged by regular unleaded...

Just don't try the probinsyanong 87 Octane Regular...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Yes, modern ecu controlled engines allow timing to be retarded to prevent or lessen knocking but using lower octane gas on it when it requires high octane can cause long term damage to your pistons. It would be better to follow the automaker suggested octane for your vehicle. In the same sense that people who say they "feel" more performance when they use high octane gas on a car that needs only low octane fuel are just wasting money.

according to the owner's manual of my car: recommended fuel is 93RON, but for better performance use 95RON.

does it mean na mas mahatak or mabilis car ko if i use 95RON?

    What's your car?

Baka naman the ECU can adjust accordingly and use a more aggressive setting when it detects high octane fuel.
