Nag fuel knock ang 2003 kia sedona ko, 3 units fuso canters, namamatay ang isang fuego at crosswind namin din. When I shifted my kia to shell, the canters, fuego and crosswind to another supplier, nawala ang mga problema. We get diesel as an industrial account. The suppliers reassure us that automotive grade diesels ang sinusupply nila. Was surprised to hear that petron diesel is only 54 cetane! Other suppliers claim 56 cetane. I doubt if that particular diesel reached 54 kasi nag fuel knock. Muntik na buksan ng Kia ang injection pump ko. While waiting for approval to claim under warranty, I happened to load with a Shell gas station. After using the car several days after, biglang napansin ko nawala ang fuel knock, mas maganda ang hatak. Crosschecking my records, na identify ko Petron yung source, similar with the other vehicles.

To be fair, we have loaded petron on other occasions. But never experienced this bad a result. The problem here is for such a big company, I expected their quality control to be way up there. But gulat ako when I told Kia of my theory that the knock is identified with the use of Petron diesel, sabi ng Kia sa akin they have received several complaints from other Kia users of problems associated with petron diesel!

Plano ko pa man din ilipat ang company fleet card namin from shell to petron dahil sa petron fleet card, meron 0.75% rebate plus points system to earn prizes.

We have our own company diesel tank. We do not get exclusive from any supplier. It so happened that we encountered all these problems with that particular delivery. Before that and after that, wala. Yung duda ko with our own tank, that's why I loaded with the shell station that I get from if I don't load from our company tank. But even my innova has already loaded from our company diesel tank but hindi na petron yung laman, wala naman na experience na ganun. So much more with the other vehicles I mentioned, nawala yung mga problema after naubos namin ang petron sourced diesel. Over 5 years ago, we were exclusive petron, but we changed to non exclusive because of price considerations. But we never experienced a problem like this. With petron gas stations, marami naman ang ok, pero marami din luma na ang gas stations, as compared with shell and caltex. You guys are right, there are good petron stations around. But there are also plenty of bad eggs. It's just that petron has to be more consistent with their quality control, whether it is the fuel they supply, or the gas stations they have. And I don't speak about this particular experience of mine. I have a close relative that is a Petron gas station dealer. And I don't get from that station because I have personal info that will make me go buy from another gas station. Same with another petron gas station run by a friend of mine. That friend of mine does not operate the gas station anymore, nahuli yung kalokohan niya. Our company consumes over 25,000 liters of diesel every month, plus a similar amount of bunker fuel.

So if you have a good reliable source, maintain that. Yung sa akin lang, I can identify the source of the problem. I am waiting for the petron industrial account officer to visit me, pero hindi ako siniputan sa scheduled naming meeting.

By the way, our san juan office and residence exclusively loads from petron gas station near king crab house in p guevarra for over a decade. No problems there.

Altec, we come from similar situations. we own a public transpo company so we have petron diesel delivered to our very own pump within our "garahes". Yun ang gamit namin sa lahat ng diesel engines namin sa house which numbers around 8 vehicles (mostly delivery vans) and my old pickup. ive never had any problem with the petron diesel though.
Although, my tita once made an ocular sa pandacan station ng mga different oil companies and she told me that most of the diesels are the same, companies are even passing it around to other competitors if they become low on supply. Im guessing you either got an unlucky batch. could happen to any company.

For some reason, my Matrix seems to accelarate faster and smoother when I switched to Shell and, gasp, Seaoil.

We have been Petron (XCS and diesel) users for a long time because our cars seemed to get better fuel mileage and acceleration from them. I chanced upon Seaoil on Edsa corner P.Tuazon weeks ago and my car felt lighter when I filled her up.

We are under petron and seaoil account. For our private vehicles we fill up at Petron but for trucks we use seaoil. Minsan I fill up at seaoil para sa kotse ko. It feels smoother and quicker response pero parang mabilis maubos. I still have to verify about my consumption.

Diesel Ultra of Shell is the cleanest diesel here, petron is a bit more dirty but not to dirty to distroy our diesel engine. Ithink the problem of petron is the quality control for commercial account, drivers may have done something wrong wd the product they deliver to you.Shell has GRPS wd almost all the LORRY they use to deliver to the customer so pag out of line ang driver huli agad tangal sa trabaho.

Shell stations quality control is much more strict, they have Van going around all the stations here in the metro, surprise quality check and on the spot result if you dont passed the dealer may suffer the consequences.

Safety is Another concern of Shell, You have to Switch off engine, turn off cell,no smoking, only authourised container should be fill wd petrol, No sitting while refuelling on Motorcylcle.

I think shell is the safest refilling station in the Phillippines.

But you know not all dealers is following Rules and Regulations.

Latest fire insicident happen in petron station.

Latest from our suppliers: Petron certifies their diesel is 54 cetane. The other two certifies (with a submitted certificate of actual testing) at 55 and 56 cetane respectively. According to the certificate, the minimum requirement is 48 cetane.

Whatever it is, obviously we got a bad batch. Unfortunately, I don't have any sample anymore because I already refueled my overhead tank from another supplier and in fact, naubos ko na rin and will reload tomorrow another 12,000 liters. In our case, I usually reload when my inventory reaches around 2-3K liters. So if I get a bad batch, immediate ang effect. With gas stations, their underground tanks can go around 50,000 liter or more capacity. So delivering a bad batch of 15,000 liters for example, will not be that obvious.

Will have to be more observant. I assumed that these guys would be doing their jobs and avoid sending out bad diesel. Alam ko kasi ang mga kalokohan ng mga gas station dealers, plus the temptation for our own drivers to pilfer our truck's gas tanks. That's why we set up our own in house tanks, and I told our welder to fabricate a housing around the fuel cap with padlock so that once it goes out of our compound, naka lock ang fuel tank. Imagine, if they just siphon 10 liters out of a truck's 100 liter tank (200 liter capacity ang 10Wheeler and prime movers), at these prices, that's easily 300 pesos! They do that often and I think you guys understand why we resorted to inhouse refueling tank. Plus I get the diesel easily 1 peso or more per liter cheaper than from the gas stations.

The big 3 interchanges or borrows diesel from each other and I don't think there's much difference. Look at Pandacan, they now have common tanks. More obvious in other locations when only 1 oil company maintains a depot where the others get their supply. Marketing strategy lang yan.

    true...

Petron is utilizing shell's pandacan terminal for gasoline/diesel depot while shell uses LPG of Petron based on Pasig. It was a compromise deal in relation to Manila City's petition to minimize operation in Panadacan.

yng diesel daw ng seaoil may mix na ng biodiesel ...

dont know if it is true, pero kng mas maganda ang hatak nya & cleaner yng exhaust emissions, then i'll switch to seaoil ... (currently using petron diesel max)
