November 6th, 2002 06:09 PM #4ride ko lancer glxi 93... estimate ko is around 9-10Km/liter
fuel comsumption ko kasi is 500P/week with weekly trip meter reading 250-280km on the week average. that is daily drive from pasig to makati (with all the traffic) and vice versa.
medyo matipid ako kung susuriin kahit na matanda na ang engine kasi po
1. accelerate slow (huwag lalampas ng 2000rpm). actually I accelerate at 1500 pag talagang tipid at walang pambili ng diaper ng bata.
2. shift between 2000 to 2500 as others have said here before
3. study your thermostat-blower ratio. higher thermostat doesn't necessarily mean colder room temp. you can cool your car 1/4 thermostat but with #2 blower. less compressor operation = less fuel
4. when driving in no traffic road, keep your speed at minimum. aabot ka rin unless nagmamadali ka talaga. I usually keep between 65-75 on 5th gear on no traffic road. pa-amoy amoy lang sa gas at madalas cruising lang. mapapansin mo na yung mga hataw 100kph eh magkikita rin kayo sa stop light. nauna nga lang silang umabot.
5. proper maintenance (change oil, air/fuel/oil filter), tire pressure etc... as others have mentioned.
gas ko nga pala is shell velocity...

palagay ko, kung panay hi-way driving ka at 100 kph, satisfactory ang fuel consumption ng mga iyan (mga 10 km/li or 11 or even higher).
bukod sa traffice conditions, nandiyan din ang mga ibang factors like road conditions (kung malubak), your own car's condition (tires, engine maintenance) and your own driving habits.
actually, the models you specified are really designed for power, speed and driving efficiency provided you have a road free of obstacles. fuel efficiency starts at 80 kph sabi sa manual. any speed lower than this entails more fuel consumed.

Sorry po medyo OT
Chieffy,
Ano yung fuel system cleaner? Magkano ito? How do I use it? Pwede din ba sa diesel ito?

although city lang car ko, nakaka - 11 km/li ako pag vortex gold ang gamit ko. sa blaze, mga 10 lamang. mahal pa. balak kong magpa oil change ng Havoline Energy. balita ko sa mga ka-tsikot natin, it helps improve fuel efficiency by 10%. pag nag 25k check up na ako, lipat ako sa Havoline Energy.
