if using kerosene has its long term damage to the ride....i believe acetone would cause one too.
I find this interesting... adding acetone in gasoline. Almost makes me want to try it out.
Given the conversion of oz and gallons.
3oz for every 10 gallons
1oz = 29ml
10gallons = 40liters (approx)
87ml for every 40 liters of gasoline
58ml for every 30 liters of gasoline

from the graph, its about 25% to 35% gain in fuel milage depending on amount of acetone added to your gasoline.Originally Posted by ILuvDetailing
Dapat meron tayong spare car to do experiments like this. I'm hesitant to do this on my daily ride.
hahaha... mas mahal pa pala yan sa gasolina...Originally Posted by ghosthunter

would like to suggest for those who want to use acetone in their cars, to buy them at shopwise. Only cost P12.75 per 120 ml.
I tried using acetone on my 1994 honda civic esi A/t last sunday Aug 28, 2005.
By the way, i live in Antipolo area.
I had my tank filled last sunday, but before putting in gas, i put in approximately 100ml of acetone. The one i bought in shopwise at P12.75 per 120 ml bottle. I specifically ordered the gasoline tendant to fill my tank up to the brim.
I zeroed my odometer reading and then we drove the car to Cubao Area, and then back to Antipolo. After which, i went to the same gasoline station in Antipolo to have my car filled with gas again (by the way gas station was petron and i am using petron extra unleaded gas), just to check if my experiment worked. Car ran for 42 kms, based on my km reading. Was very surprised that the amount of gas needed to fill up my tank was only 3.4 liters costing me around P110 pesos. My gas consumption was about 12.3 km/L. Normally city driving with my car, i only get maximum of 8 km/ L this tends to go down depending on traffic conditions.
Will do more testing, i still have my tank full, will check my consumption again once the tank reaches 1/2.
note that the recommended ratio is 60-90mL acetone for every 40L gasoline. But update us on your results anyway.Originally Posted by mrjun
the problem here is acetone is considered a controlled substance, not just something you can pick up from the hardware store in gallon containers...Originally Posted by Doc Diesel

acetone at Mercury (P42.00/120mL) is P0.35/mL.
if we use the mixture of 3oz/10gal ~ 87mL/40li, it will only cost an additional P30.45 per 40 liters of gas, or P0.76 per liter of gas, this for additional 35% mileage! not bad na rin. now who's gonna try this out?![]()

hmmm. tamang-tama. pagkatapos nyo mag test, may pangtanggal na si gretzy ng nail polish nya. hehehehe.
I already got a graduated cylinder to measure the amount of acetone. I already have the 120ml bottle of acetone (from mercury drug). I guess I might be doing this when I next fill up my gas tank.
