Me too....Turn-off engine prior to filling-up.....for Safety reason.....:D
better turn off your engine when filling up with gasoline...
very volatile kasi ang gasoline and a little spark somewhere is all that's needed to ignite it
ngeks....
parati pa naman naka start ang engine ko when filling up.
cge po. ituturn off ko nalang din engine ko:mrgreen:
i turn off my engine and my cell phone too, whenever i take our car for a refill at the station.
share ko lang an article i have read some time ago re: static that cause explosions during gas refill.
gasoline fumes are so dangerous with open flames or even sparks. this is why even cellphones are advised to be turned off at the gas station because of the tiny sparks they produce.
by statistics, men drivers are often the ones who have the habit of getting off the car during a gas refill. women drivers usually stay inside the car.
the advise for anyone who gets off the vehicle during a refill, is for him/her to touch the metal part of the door. this is to transfer the charge that causes static sparks to the body of the car.
the static charge is usually caused by the fabric of our car seats and carpets. while we are in a dry cool climate inside the car, our body rubs against this fabric and we acquire a charge (forgot if its negative or positive). such charge we acquire produces a spark if we happen to touch another body/metal of opposite charge. thus, if such spark happened near the fumes of the gasoline, BOOM!
Turn it off na lang. I always do that.tama sila very volatile ang gas, any spark sa electricals ng car mo (like tail lights? :rollyari ka na.
I always thought na standard operating procedure ang
magpatay muna ng makina habang nagpapa-gas.
I am really surprised from the posts on this thread na
meron palang di gumagawa nun...
Now you guys know better....:D
if turning the engine off while filling up is to avoid static.. etc that could lead to an explosion....then turning it on would be much more dangerous because electricity would flow through the engine's electrical parts and that the gas is now inside your vehicle and it is flowing through the gas line ....wouldnt that be more dangerous?
and if smoking too is prohibited then why are there people outside the gas station's convenience store having drinks and smoking?...sometimes i wonder...
Originally Posted by mmda

necessary ba tlga?hmm.....il try to change my habit nga...tsaka tinatamad ako magpatay ng cellhpone once nasa loob na ko ng gas station...kasi pag pinatay mo il would cause static na naman so better leave it kesa papatyin mo ince nasa loob ka na ng gas station...
well, i don't know about that static from the car's systems... but there must be a good reason why gas stations all over the world advise customers to turn off their engines when filling up![]()
some food for thought:
won't an "off" cellphone be even more dangerous than one that's turned on? at least if it's on, current flows in a closed loop through it. static will that gets caught up in this flow will be quickly consumed by the phone's electronics.
however, when its off, the screen, the battery act as small capacitors ready to discharge static. same principle as a television. when you switch off your tv, you can literally feel the static discharge that isn't there while it's on.
diba yung "danger" ng cellphones ay yung threat of an oncoming signal igniting the gas fumes? (although someone did say that cellphone emissions won't ignite gasoline...)
that's totally uneducated. radio signals travel everywhere, and they won't avoid your cellphone just because it's "off." in the same way, your tv antenna doesn't stop being an antenna (or lightning rod) even if your tv is off, you just don't get to see the signals it receives.diba yung "danger" ng cellphones ay yung threat of an oncoming signal igniting the gas fumes? (although someone did say that cellphone emissions won't ignite gasoline...)
ako i turn off the engine kasi wala naman pop up knob sa fuel and naka on ang phone kung may tumawag siguro deadma na lang muna.
splerdu,
radio waves ba yung cellphone? what's all this hulabaloo about cellphone radiations then (which are said to cause everything from gas station ignitions to cancer)? crap?
