    Flying V set to test-market
    local hybrid diesel product

    By Melvin G. Calimag, Sub-Editor

OIL company Flying V said it will test a hybrid diesel product in the local market through its gas stations across the Philippines, saying it has discovered a less expensive alternative to imported diesel product.

“We’re just waiting for the necessary government permits for us to roll out the product in our branches,” said Flying V executive Macky Lopez in an interview on Wednesday.

The company, owned by the Villavicencio family, has 102 gas stations nationwide with 50 more under construction.

Lopez said they have been conducting tests since December last year on the diesel product dubbed as RL Fuel. The diesel fuel was crated by a Filipino inventor, Rudy Lantano, who also operates his own oil depot and refilling station in Bicutan, Taguig.

The oil executive said the new product has a promising potential since it is cheaper than the ordinary diesel. Diesel is currently priced at P18.20 a liter while the RL Fuel is pegged at P15.28 a liter.

The diesel product, which started retailing only last Tuesday, is currently being used by some 50 passenger jeepneys plying the Taguig route, an official of a transport group said.

According to Lopez, the new product emits a cleaner smoke since it has a lower sulfur content. “Malakas pa ang hatak kaya mas makakatipid ka sa mileage.”

He said aside from the RL Fuel, the company is also trying out bio-diesel which it plans to unveil in Mindanao. “We’re doing this because the directive given to us by the Department of Energy is to find alternative sources of energy.”

Based on the test conducted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Lantano’s creation has a lower flashpoint than ordinary diesel, which results to easier starting and increase in combustion power. The government agency added that the hybrid diesel can run 10 kilometers a liter on a C220 engine against 6 kilometers on conventional diesel.

The only limitation in using the new fuel product is that it requires a special kind of fuel filter that is also manufactured by the inventor. However, RL Fuel can be used inter-changeably with conventional diesel using the special fuel filter.

Lantano said he also signed an agreement with Singaporean oil company, Eco-X Synergy Pte Ltd, to distribute the new product in Singapore, China, Germany, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

He said multinational oil companies Shell, Total and Caltex have already approached him to distribute the product. The inventor said he is still studying their proposals.

    personally...why not?

Success Stories: Pinoy Lan-Gas environment-friendly fuel Bicutan plant opens
Posted on Friday, August 16 * 15:06:29 PHT by tagapamalita

Do you know that a Pinoy invention, Lan-Gas, will soon have a plant and fueling stations in Maryland, USA and in Thailand? Lan-Gas is a brand name of an environment-friendly fuel and a purely Filipino invention by Rudy Lantano, a multi-awarded inventor. Already operational are some seven fuel stations in Metro Manila, and San Pedro, Laguna.

The Lan-Gas Manufucaturing Plant in Bicutan, Taguig, Metro Manila was inaugurated July 31, 2002 to meet the increasing demand of Lan-Gas products. Prior to this, a pilot plant was located inside the DOST Compound, also in Bicutan. Hon. Jose de Venecia, Speaker, House of Representatives and Her Excellency Busba Bunnag, Thailand Ambassador to the Philippines were guests of honor. Speaker de Venecia revealed he was the first to help Lantano developed his invention in 1992 by appointing him consultant on Science and Technology matters. He was glad to know Lantano is succeeding as inventor and entrepreneur and he foresees in the future of the purely Filipino Lan-Gas business operation will be comparable to big oil companies.
It was in the early 70?s when cost of fuel started to rise so the government started its campaign for alternatives sources. Lantano, was then starting his research of a possible pollution-free gas that would be cheaper than the prevailing market price as well. Lantano made three technological innovations, namely, Alco-diesel, Lan-gas and Superbunker Formula L (SBFL).

Lantano revealed that as part of the commercialization process, he has put up and operate strategically located gas stations, bearing the signage of Lan-Gas and patronized by a number of industries, car owners and jeepney drivers. The main station and a branch are found in Bicutan, Taguig, and other branches are in Pasig City, in Cavite (Dasmariñas, Gen. Trias, and Alfonso), and in San Pedro, Laguna.

He also confided a soon to be established Lan-Gas fuel plants in Maryland, USA and Thailand. Present in the plant opening aside from de Venecia and Bunnag are his prospective American and Thailand business partners.

Lantano is a recipient of the 1996 Gold Medal Award for Most Outstanding Invention by the World Intellectual Property Right Organization (WIPO) for his invention of Hydro-Bunker Fuel and 1998 DOST Most Outstanding Inventor.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI), provided Lantano with a 1,000 square meters of work area inside the DOST complex where he built and constructed a pilot plant for his three inventions. A series of test were made by both government and private organizations, and the results were all positive and encouraging. Lantano embarked to the commercialization of his three inventions sometime in 1994. Now the manufacturing and selling of his invention is in full swing. (E.B.Ignacio, S&T Media Service)

baiskee, duda pa rin ako kay dingle... tinatago pa kasi niya yung secret ng engine niya eh...

wrecker, I too really hope this "holds water"... pardon the pun.

Pero IMHO, mukhang iba ang storya nito kasi meron nang mga gov study/investigation... tapos i-promote ng local fueling business (Flying V)... dadalhin pa sa Thailand, Singapore and US.

Nonetheless, like the estrol bio-diesel thrust, I look forward to more information on this product.

Industry & Business: Inventor introduces RL ReLoaded Fuel
Posted on Thursday, April 15 * 15:13:20 PHT by crpd

A new and cheaper fuel compatible with all kinds of internal combustion diesel and marine engines is now on test market. Known as RL ReLoaded Fuel, the product is the latest breakthrough of Mr. Rudy Lantano, 1996 WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) Gold Medal Awardee for the Most Outstanding Invention.

RL ReLoaded Fuel is a mixture of diesel and Lantano's 1996 winning invention, the Super Bunker Formula L. with the use of his patented invention, the Agitating Reactor Machine.

"This is in response to skyrocketing fuel prices. We need to help our people by providing them with economical and environment-friendly fuel," Lantano explained.

Mr. Lantano cited the advantages of his product: 1) decrease in fuel prices; 2) decrease in fuel consumption; 3) environment friendly with low sulfur content; 4) built in lubricant that protects and lengthens engine life; and 5) lower flash point resulting to easier starting and higher combustion power. Furthermore, the RL ReLoaded Fuel can run 10 kms per liter on C220 engine against 6 kms per liter on conventional diesel.

"This new fuel product requires a special kind of fuel filter which I also manufactured. With this special fuel filter, RL ReLoaded fuel can be used interchangeably with conventional diesel," Lantano added.

Suggested pump price is P15.28 per liter, available at Lan-Gas Station in Bicutan, and soon at all Flying V Gas Stations. "Commercial production is minimal at the moment, but we can produce 2 million liters per day," said Lantano. He further stressed that low cost fuel can effect savings and stimulate demand, production, income and consumption. Bulk prices are at P14.88 per liter.
