ASTM nakapattern yung Philippine standard. lam mo naman tayo, neo-colonial e. :freak:
konti lang naman pinagkaiba ng ASTM sa DIN standards.
pero teka nga pala, di ba Big Horn yung sa yo? di naman CRDI yan pre, pwedeng pwede yan sa biodiesel.

September 12th, 2003 07:35 PM #42Guys: I tried biodiesel on 4JX1 3 iters on a full tank, pero mausok pa rin. No noticeable change in power, cguro dahil malakas na talaga engine ng trooper. Am hoping to lessen smoke, but yung baho ng diesel medyo nabawasan esp in the morning. will try another 3 liters on my next full tank and observe. should i increase biodiesel percentage, sabi kasi ng dealer 5% lang. what should I do? thanks

September 13th, 2003 07:01 AM #43chull_al,
try to increase it to 6 liters so more or less its 10% of your total tank capacity. yung sa akin ganyan din ang ginawa ko, epekto kaagad. now I maintain it at 3 liters per full tank.

September 13th, 2003 04:51 PM #44Yup, Doc D is right! Noticeable ang reduction sa smoke emission at a minimum of 5% blend. 10% is much better, that is also the percentile we are using right now.

September 14th, 2003 10:17 PM #45On 2nd tank using 4% blend on an 85L tank of 4JX1 engine. First tank, at 2% blend, only gave a slight reduction in smoke but smoother idle.
Hope the 4% blend reduces smoke further and gives more power!

October 7th, 2003 09:08 PM #46Been using biodiesel for a month, am now at 5% and it does make a huge difference in common rail injec. I use to have a knocking sound when i start the engine in the morning, think it was caused by detonation of low cetane diesel- just like in petrol engines with poor quality gas. Also had rough idle after a long drive- all that's gone with 5% boidiesel!
The lubricity is better since the engine is noticeably quieter. The biggest benefit is in the torque- now the car is fun to drive. Think that the improved cetane means no predetonation thus you get a complete, clean burn.
IMO, the trooper's common rail system is very sensitive to quality of diesel fuel. It really needs high cetane, high lubricity fuel- so use biodiesel if you want the engine to last.

October 7th, 2003 09:53 PM #48jackaroo: nice to hear about that. I think rin na aside from the performance side what you can actually confirm with an actual test is the reduction in harmful emission. It's really time we do something about the AIR or SMOG in MM.
