From the figures, the test was probably done on the expressway. So we can consider all those figures to be highway fuel milage.

Oo nga, Vios at the back, City in front... pushing the air out of the way for everyone else.
But according to the release, it's combined city-highway daw. Still, 17 km is decent mileage for an average owner in average driving, while the numbers from the others are conspicuously high, indicating super-tipid mode.
Heck, in super-tipid mode, I can even get 14 km/l from my 2 liter gas engine. Finally broke that barrier on the NLEX a few days ago. I'm now shooting for 15.

June 25th, 2006 04:44 PM #14Haay naku. Hindi na importante sa akin kung ano ang fuel mileage ng kotse mo. What we should be talking about really is how high fuel prices are expected to go in the following months. Dumoble na within the past 2 and a half years. And if I were you, if you own or drive an SUV now or any gas guzzling vehicle, i-enjoy mo na since you won't think of doing this in the near future.

Errh... fuel efficiency isn't important? With those gas prices going up nga... Regular unleaded at over 42 pesos? Unthinkable just a few years ago... but understandable given the current situation... it's more important than ever for the brand new car buyer.
And if my fuel efficiency isn't important to you, then you might as well not read it when I post it, hmmmmmm? It sure is important to me, as I'm paying for my gas. Lately, I've been planning my trips and checking my speeds. I'm averaging 9.5-10 where I used to average 8.-9. The cool weather helps a lot, too.

July 23rd, 2006 06:25 PM #16fuel efficiency should be second if not equally important to carbon emissions & safety ...like driver/passenger/curtain/knee airbags, side impacts, crumple zones, etc. etc. and CO2 levels. this "features" in a car should be every filipinos shopping list for cars. if anyone wants to know about a car go to the Euro NCAP website. it will tell you evrything.

July 23rd, 2006 06:37 PM #18tell me...if a brand-new car runs at 22kms/L and not hav a single airbag and no ABS would you still buy it? would you risk a life of a family member in favor for something that runs more roads?

Depends. Frontal Airbags are important, yes, but at high speeds and in most situations, the structural integrity of the vehicle is more important.
Many carmakers are now designing airbag systems mostly to meet standards than anything else. The Airbag programming, for example, on certain cars get a full set of stars on US crash tests, but not European... or vice versa.
Personally, I'd pick a car designed structurally for crashworthiness without an airbag, over a car not designed to meet crash standards but airbag equipped.
And ABS? If you're going fast enough to need it, you're going too fast. Never in my life have I ever activated ABS in emergency braking from high speeds. I have, however, activated ABS at low speeds in my Nissan Sentra... damn near caused an accident, at that... stupid, over-reactive ABS...
No, scratch that... stupid brakes.
As for the question? Yes, I'd buy a Getz...

July 23rd, 2006 07:02 PM #20am not a car expert but from what i hear and read airbag programming has improved a lot ever since it's inception;they don't just blow up on bumps and slight scratches from somebody ele's car. if you want to know a car's crashworthiness go to the Euro NCAP website. i think the Euro ratings are the best and most dependable in anywhere else.
