My wife gets 7.5 km/l on our 2.0 CRV in the city. That's P 6.00 per kilometer on Petron Blaze (last time I filled up it was P45/l)! Ouch! When I take it out to Batangas, it gets better at 11 km/l or about P4.09 per kilometer. Our Starex crdi does about 8.5 km/l in the city or P4.32 on petron diesel max (* P36.70/ liter). On the highway, it does 10 km/l (95% below 2000 rpm). That's about P3.67 per kilometer.

That's why I hate doing the math coz it's hard for me to sleep at night knowing how much I spend on gasoline!

I get 19-21 km/l on my 400 cc bike. Only 2x better fuel economy than our CRV but so much more fun

ako din dati ganyan...pero isipin mo rin ang route mo everyday...mas pipiliin ko na ang mahal na gasolina kesa mahal na hospital bills/or mahal na pagpapalibing

Guys,- if you're driving a vehicle,- then you're luckier than most of the Filipinos who do not own one. That is something to thank and think about.

I agree with GlennSter. If I am given a choice and I have the means, I'd rather be driving a four-wheeler than a two-wheeler, inspite of the big mileage advantage of the latter, for health and safety reasons.

Switching to diesel doesn't change a thing, you'll still be consuming more fuel that in other countries, you're just using a cheaper fuel source. The ratio is still the same.

I like the idea of not having Jeeps and Buses on LRT/MRT routes but the train bogs down every so often and if we don't have the PUV alternative, those people will end up hitchhiking with us =).

About the gear thing, gas consumption is actually lower on low gears, at least that's what my Km/L guage tells me.

Pre mabuti you agree with me... yan dapat ang golden rule e...

If there is mass transportation available.... wala na dapat yang PUJ and PUBs... kahit mag bog down yan... may taxi pa naman e....

And also, adding volume of users to mass transit systems means that the operators can increase their safety & maintenance expenditures...

Saka dito sa Pilipinas... dapat matuto tao na magplano ng kanilang travel routes... Like doing 2-3 things in your travel route para tipid sa gas...

How come car pooling here is not popular? Another style we practice abroad was to drive towards the nearest train station and park there. We ride the fast train, then we walk a couple of blocks to where we work. We reverse the process in going home. We do this to eliminate as much hassle as we can while still enjoying a comfortable ride. Of course we also faced the same dilemma like parking, cancelled train sched, weather, etc. but we managed. Medyo sanay lang tayo sa convenience dito. I know I am.

    Ewan nga bakit.

Kapag dumadaan ako sa EDSA araw-araw, maraming sasakyan na yung driver lang ang laman.

Sa akin medyo sulit... for a regular workday... 3-4 kaming nasa tsikot.

Do the math, driving in Manila is horrendous for fuel economy hehe.
