Which Gaso is better? Moderators Help!!!

[SIZE=3] Ive read all the posts in the thread titled "Petron Caltex, Shell, Ano gamit mo?" and wondered can the claims be put under scrutiny and tests? I have no preferene and uses gas in whatever station am nearest to. If I gas up with unleaded, the next time it will be the premium gas. Shell, Petron, Caltex, Unioil, you name it, I use it. But I detest being hooked to only one brand.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=3] Since we know that there are a lot of factors affecting the car's milage, (even affecting our own decision) does one company's gas formulation per se gives better milage than the others? But unless we have someone who can enlighten us about the formulations being peddled by these gasoline retailers (Petron, Caltex, Shell, etc.,) we will just be indulging in endless and futile guessing game, wont we? Or are all of them the same but merely differs in their ad campaign? [/SIZE]

Ako din eh! hehehe! Nga lang, medyo napaisip ako kse the thread title says, "Moderators Help!!!". So parang ang dating eh he just wants to get help from the Mods only, and not from the rest of the Tsikoteer community. Sana nag-PM na lang sya instead of creating a thread.

Uhm.. that's why it's called a forum where 'forumers' like you and me can express our own opinions. What's not good to say? I called your attention on the font size usage. It's too big that reading your post makes it hard for some of us. You mentioned that you did a Search so most probably you saw that everyone (most if not all) are using regular font as a from courtesy we share here in Tsikot.com.

Second, on your thread title, you specifically mentioned that you are looking for Moderator's opinions only. Why not PM them instead of creating a new thread? It's clear from the title that regular forumers like me cannot address your concern. Read most of the replies to this thread.

RE: Opinion of Moderators: Would be just that, opinions. While some moderators are more technically inclined than we are, like sir Ghosthunter and sir OTEP in some matters, I don't know if any of them are experts on fuel, which is what you're really looking for.

I believe the DOE has Octane testers (shown on an episode of Expose or TVPatrol... I think, on that episode with the gas station selling "regular" as "premium) that you can use to gauge the quality of suspect fuel. Some engineering labs or schools might have these.

But as to the effectiveness of additives, that'll require lots of work. You can't just put different fuels into one engine and test them all on the road. Varying environmental temperatures, runnign temperatures and road conditions will have an effect on the engine. And the varying octane ratings of each fuel will have their effect, also. Any engine can be tuned to run better on higher or lower octane... so if one engine runs better with a higher octane gas, it doesn't mean that another engine will run better with the same gas... in fact, some engines run better on lower octane, because they're tuned for it.

Assuming you've collected gasolines from all three major players, and have found them to be of exactly equal octane ratings. You need a reliably stable engine to test fuel efficiency and power on (preferably a new EFI, which you should reset between tests) and a dynamometer to test on. A sealed dyno environment will give you constant external temperatures and running temperatures.

This testing will take lots of money. Ask torque2006, representative for autotechnika... You should budget at least 10,000 pesos plus gas money for this test... and you still need to borrow an Octane tester, as well as budget some money to have a chemical lab give you a breakdown of each gasoline.

And this test will still be applicable only to the car used. Like I said previously, different cars react to different gasolines differently. That's why people stand by different brands, because a certain mix of additives and octane might be great for one car, while it will seem terrible for another. That's why some people will swear by a low octane product like Petron XTra, or others will swear by V-Power or Blaze, or even Caltex's Techron formulation (so far, my car isn't saying anything nice about it... )... but others will already have optimum performance on 89 Regular.

It's all up to your car which one it likes, and some cars are really picky. That's why these debates will never end.

I agree. I am just saying that bigger fonts are not necessary for the forumers, mods, and admins to read them, in my honest opinion.

Honestly, again in my honest opinion, the thread title implies that you only want the opinions of the Mods. If needed, you may PM any of the Mods or Admins to edit your title.
