IMHO, hindi kailanman maiaangat ang quality ng diesel sa pinas, bcoz that will mean higher production cost on the big 3. Kung magbebenta sila ng more purified diesel at price equal to same diesels of the big 3, or even slightly higher, and kung meron silang promo sa tv, sigurado, susunod yung big 3 na yan.

Or, baka naman ala Dingel dyan na merong diesel purifier/cleaner.

Yeah they are on the price lists and does anyone try to use them? I haven't heard of any local euro sedan diesel engine on the streets.

I sure would like to get some feedbacks on its performance.

I think cleaner diesel will soon find its way hir in our country.

explorer, which county are you in? I'm surprised you're only getting a low 38mpg from your Corsa. When new you could get 53mpg combined from that car. Any plans on running it off biodiesel (vegetable oil mix)?

Bakit kaya ang UK BMW 330d/530d, 231hp/500Nm na ang 3.0Li diesel? - according to the UK homepage.

BTW, when you do factor in the cost, why 4m41? I like the way the way the Germans are tinkering their diesel engines.

All the feed back whether negative or positive is good input for me.

All i can say is Audi R10 at Sebring and Lemans.

uy good. sir, gudluck to you.

since you're at it may tanong lang ako. medyo wala kasi akong alam pag dating sa mga ganyan. and alam ko lang, diesel engine works differently from petrol engine by igniting the fuel and air mixture using the heat created by the high compression of the engine. kaya walang spark plug. tanong ko sir pwede bang gumawa ng engine using the same principle as diesel engine pero ang fuel gasoline? kung pwede gawin, may adavantage kaya yun over diesel?

I will try to answer this but verify it.

Diesel and gasoline fuel have different characterics. Gasoline even compressed will not easily ignite unless iginition or spar* is applied. On the other hand Diesel ignition will only be efficient when fuel is injected at the air present in the combustion chamber at a precise stage of compression.

Diesel engines employ compression ratios much higher than those of gasoline engine. This is necessary to create a high enough cylinder air temperature for injected diesel fuel to vaporize and start to burn.

To answer the question. Creating a gasoline engine using the principles of compression ignition will not give the added power, efficiency or performance to the engine.

Guys, here are the European diesel engine SUVs sold in PH:
    BMW X5 3.0d SAV P4,694,000
    BMW X5 3.0d Executive P5,492,000

I don't think BMW would sell their diesels here if they think it would not last because of the quality of our diesel fuel. The diesel fuel here in the Philippines is already Euro II compliant. This standard requires low-sulphur diesel fuel.

The current standard in use in Europe though is Euro III. This standard requires ultra low-sulphur diesel fuel.

The sulphur in diesel fuel acts as a lubricant so, lowering it will reduce the lubricity of the fuel. The solution is to add additives to restore the lubricity. In Europe they use biodiesel as additives to restore the lubricity. Here in the Philippines, oil companies are using their own additives for this purpose.

So, what will happen if you use low sulphur diesel fuel (Euro II) on Euro III compliant diesel vehicle? Engine wise, no adverse effect but your emission will of course become degraded. The emission control devices such as particulate filters, etc. will be affected eventually they will fail. Vehicle manufacturers are aware of this, it is likely that they would simply remove the more sensitive emission control devices from vehicle sold here.

Here is the link to the European Standards being discuss here:

mas mahal nga lang ang diesel cars/fuel compared sa gasoline cars/fuel dito sa UK. yung diesel fuel ngayon dito nasa £0.96+(P96+)/lit. while yung gasoline nasa £0.93+(P9+)/lit. although diesel fuel is more expensive, it's still hard to find second-hand, diesel-fed cars here because overall diesel would still give the owners more savings and more torque. initial result of my '97 1.7L diesel 5Dr Vauxhall Corsa has a fuel comsumption * 16+km/lit on a combined city and hi-way driving. it would probably improve to 18~20km/lit once i'm familiar with the streets and the RHD car. some even claim 22km/lit even if their diesel cars are more than 7 years old.

what also amazes me is the exhaust. i could not see any dark or white smoke coming from the exhaust of my 8yo diesel car. the burned gas coming from the engine is totally colorless.
