converting one's car to use LPG?.... yes. As long it's done by a certified conversion shop.

My car has been running on auto-lpg over two years already.

Eastern Petroleum cuts autogas prices by P1/liter
    12/17/2008 | 04:51 PM

MANILA, Philippines – Independent oil player Eastern Petroleum Corp. on Wednesday slashed the prices of its automotive liquefied petroleum gas (auto-LPG) products by P1 per liter.

GMA’s Flash Report quoted Eastern Petroleum President Fernando Martinez as saying that the rollback took effect 6 a.m. Wednesday.

As of this posting, other oil firms have yet to announce whether they will match Eastern Petroleum’s move.

Autogas has become a popular engine for LPG-run taxi units because of its relatively cheaper price compared to other types of engine fuel. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV

I was driving along buendia and i saw lpg stations there at 18 pesos per liter while at petron valle verde along c-5 costs 19.30/liter . ang laki ng price difference nila. i just hope ipantay ng petron ang price nila sa mga small players para magbenifit ang mga lpg users. reason why i always go there is thati always use my credit card for filling up. theres a nearby lpg refilling station pero cash basis lang sila and parati silang pareho ng price with petron na mataas din. no compelling reason to switch. i just hope na bumaba pa ang price lalo para maganda ang 2009 natin lahat.

Usually price per liter depends on the location, there's a tight competition when there are small players around the area like Mindanao Ave, E. Rodriguez and Shaw Blvd.

Last night Petron and Total North Fairview have lowered their price to P18.30 in line with SeaOil price which is just nearby.

I usually go to Xoom Autogas in Timog which is priced in line with the E. Rodriguez area that are always lower in price than in Makati area or North Fairview.

Have not checked the E. Rodriguez and Timog area, probably price there now is P17/liter...i hope

Question lang. How often do we need to have our LPG system serviced?

I just noticed that every 1 or 2 months, my engine would stall immediately upon switching to LPG (either via the auto-switch at 2000rpm or pressing the button). When I bring the car back for service, Greenfuel will almost just clean the filter and the car would be ok again. Any ideas? You guys experience the same? Hassle din kasing magpabalik-balik sa shop that often...

    Thanks in advance.

Depends on the LPG you are getting I think. Some of the LPG refilling stations seems to be "dirty" or contaminated with oil due to non-cleaning of the storage tank. Older style venturi LPG systems will handle it with no problems but SGI systems tend to get clogged which requires some cleaning.

An in-line filter or separator can help but periodic cleaning it still required.

It is likely you are getting an intermittent sticky Valtek rail injectors due to oily LPG contamination. One sign that your Valtek rail is failing was the rubber hose from the reducer/condenser to the injector rail was slightly bulging (medyo maga).

If you will notice, once they service your kit; they will remove the hose going to the rail and at this instance the actuators will get rested and will flex back to its original position, freed from getting stuck. Filter cleaning will also help, but it seems base from my experience, hose dismantling and re-installation alone helps restore injector's pistons to normal positions.

Another sign that you are getting oily LPG was your spark plugs will have black carbon deposits. A clean LPG fed into the engine will yield only powdery white deposit on the spark plugs.

Note: Slowly bleed bulging LPG hose before removal by loosening the clamps and slowly rotating the hose back and forth to avoid loud gas pressure noise.

    Kumusta na kabayan?

i just want to inform you that based on my computations,

if the price difference of Unleaded and LPG would be between 5 to 8 pesos, then i think it is better to switch to unleaded. This is for the simple reason that the mileage you can get between unleaded and LPG would be equal. In other words, there will be no more savings.

With that, the only consolation we LPG users can get is cleaner emission. As to the long term effect of LPG use for our engine, that i could not comment yet because i am only on my 8th month in using LPG.

Personally I think the current increases in price for LPG is totally artificial, driven by greedy oil companies looking for ways to circumvent the price control over gasoline and diesel.

As for the current users of auto-lpg, remember that auto-lpg is not the solution to fuel prices and shortages. It simply gave us the power to choose which fuel we want to use for our vehicles. So when the time comes when its more economically viable to use gasoline over LPG, we can simply do so at the push of a button on our dashboard.

I agree, my computation was if the price difference was down to 6-7 pesos then I will switch back to unleaded

But I guess the present situation was artificial, eventually prices will stabilize with a greater margin.

possible na masira talaga ang fuel pump kung more than 95% of the time naka lpg ka and leave your tank almost empty. dalhin mo na lang sa trusted mechanic mo para ma check ang fuel pump baka corroded na.

my practice. i always have 1/4 petrol in my tank and always cycle at least 2 kilometers daily para less chance mangyari yug ganyan.

Thanks n5110. Although, thanks na rin sa Greenfuel for maintaining a good pool of technicians. Good luck, Ian!

And I agree on the cleaner emission argument. Sabi nga sa radio the other day, we have lesser pollution now vs last year and one of the reasons given was the use of auto LPG...
