Hi guys, Im new here in tsikot. I recently relocated from Albay to Laguna. Its a big change of scene since Im not so used to the traffic. But still after the 2 super duper typhoons hit us last year I think my relocation is worth it. One more thing Im getting used to is travel distance and time. Dati going to work is 10kms round trip which takes around 10 mins each way. Now its 50kms round and around 45 mins each way. Thats why I recently got a 2nd hand honda city so that I wouldnt have to use my Lynx RS too often. Saves me around 40% on fuel.

So guys. heres the problem. Gas is now P40 plus per liter and its doomed to go up. I would like us tsikoteers to open our cars to carpooling. I would like to start it.

I reside in San Pedro and drive to Dasma Cavite monday to friday at 8pm, then Dasma to San Pedro every tuesday to sat around 630am.

If you have relatives or friends that take this route at these times, please let me know so that we can just car pool. Pwede rin chip in na lang sa gas kung wala silang car.

What do you think? Sayang naman kasi yung mga SOV (Single occupancy vehicles) out there. At least you can save on gas, make new friends and share your precious rides. Hirap din kasi mag commute. Daming holdup.

More power to tsikot.

That's pretty much obvious. However, it's still way below the consumption when you have to make the trip in two vehicles or more.

A friend of mine do the morning school run, bringing my kids and his to school every school day. I take them home when I do the run in the afternoon. That's an instant 50% reduction* in fuel consumption/costs for the school run. And my kids get to ride on a Phaeton in the mornings ... It's a shame his kids have to come home on a rustbucket .

* An approximate. You may want to be anal and consider the added load.

Errr... but only by a bit. But that is far outweighed by the fact that you are saving on so much more gasoline (as illustrated by StraightSix).

In my case, we leave Bulacan with 5 pax on board and 4 pax going back. Here's a detailed illustration:

My daily trip is around 60km, using 8km/L = 7.5L * P40 = P300 gasoline

If we use two cars to complete our daily journey

Car 1 (me):
60km, 9km/L = 6.66L * P40 = P266.67 gasoline

Car 2 (brother)
50km, 9km/L = 5.55L * P40 = P222.22 gasoline

total gasoline expense = P488.88

not to mention that we will also pay double the toll fee (P76).

car pool is a good idea. but for the thread starter, you should have relocated closer to your work in Dasmarinas Cavite. there are many houses there that are comparable in cost and size as in laguna. but then again, if you already acquired that previously, then car pool is the alternative.

dati naka AE101 GLi kami, at least 350 yung gas per day.

ang pinagtataka ko lang, 45 nalang ang dollar, pero mukang walang balak na bumaba pa yung gas prices. mukang tumataas pa nga eh.

geez.. and i wonder who's bright idea this is now..

dapat nga i encourage pa nila ang car pooling at magkaroon ng dedicated car pool lanes eh. kesa naman isang kotse isa lang sakay. waste of gas and road space.

palibhasa yang mga nasa gobyerno na yan, may pasasakyan na, sagot pa gas. madalas may mga escort pa.

come on, car pooling savings far outweighs your loss in FC. korek si straightsix and M2.

so anyone for a ride with me? i travel from pampanga (san fernando exit to eastwood daily: my work is 8am to 5pm). anyone? we can split the gas and toll fee 4ways.

just don't tell me that fuel consumption will go up badly. kung ayaw nyo mag car pool because you can afford at marami kayong pang gastos, let us be.

Nauna na ang Davao City in banning carpooling.

LTFRB, Davao to regulate school vans
by Prix D Banzon

Davao City (1 June) -- The Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the city government of Davao joined hands to regulate vans that serve as transportation vehicles of school children. Only those with franchise will be allowed to operate come opening of classes this June.

LTFRB regional director Atty. Abdulgafar Mohammad said about 300 operators of vans applied for franchise and about 270 were approved as of May 31, 2007.

He said carpooling is prohibited by law and will no longer be allowed to operate because the units are not registered and could not be covered by proper insurance in case of accident.

He however said that only 70 operators claimed their franchise and many are still unclaimed at the LTFRB office.

"May be the others are still working on their vans because the unit has to have safety gadgets and markings," he said.

He said that before releasing the franchise, their office has to inspect the unit otherwise their permit to operate will not be given to them.

He said the vans have to have black and yellow safety markings to warn the public that kids are in the vans bound to and from school.

Meanwhile the police and the military are ready for the opening of classes come Monday, June 4.

Philippine National Police regional director Chief Superintendent Andres Caro II said they are on alert for the opening of classes.

"While we are on heighten alert because of the threats of the CPP-NPA and terrorists groups, our men are on alert to ensure the safety of school children when the classes opens," he said.

Davao City police director Sr. Supt. Jaime Morente said with the "Balik Eskwela" they had intensified security of different schools.

"We will be fielding personnel in schools and in areas where students converged," he said.

He also said that they are coordinating with the traffic management group and Task Force Davao for the safety of students as they report to their respective schools.

oo nga. kolorum kasi lalabas sila.

saka kung tutoo man na ipagbabawal carpool. sows. sobra naman. so pag may sakay akong dalawa or tatlo sa kotse paparahin ako? pano kung mga kapatid ko sakay ko? mahihirapan yata sila patunayan na ang ginagawa mo is carpooling. saka for sure kung regular na sakay mo mga yun e magkakakilala talaga kayo. malabo yan.

Ah well, as long as they confine it to such modes of transport. Huwag na nilang galawin yung private vehicles. They should be thankful that private citizens are taking the initiative to reduce energy consumption.

That's because some colorum vehicles are using the "carpool" excuse themselves from a ticket (and a very hefty fine).

i agree naman with this. but how about the deprecation cost of shocks/maintenance of car and even the interiors of the car? dapat sama din sa equation. in your case, ok lang kasi kapamilya. they'll take care of your car as if it is their own.

highly doubt na ganyan pag carpooling lalo na kung kaibigan or strangers ang nakikisakay. been carpooling when I was in college, actually not carpooling per se pa nga eh, sagot ko pa din gas. mga kaklase ko nakikisakay lang sa'kin coz on the way. i tell you walang weekend na hindi ko bi-nrush ng husto ang mattings ko, and felt sad that some minor plastics inside the car got damaged.

plus, lumaki pa gastos ko sa gas noon compared kung alone lang ako, or 2 lang kami ng gf ko.

there is also one factor na na-miss nyo sa carpooling, baka i-expect ng ka-carpool nyo na ihatid sila isa't isa sa bahay nila or drop destination. that adds extra kms.

carpool with people who have their own cars, that way you can have a rotation. my friend has been doing this for quite sometime now and it seems to be working. meron pa daw added benefit, three of his carpool buddies are MILFs.
