I have other theory on why they are now discounting these hybrid units.
Being left in the dealer for 2 or more yrs will degrade their hybrid battery.
So it will make sense to give huge discounts for these units.

Pero, if 2025 Year model units ang ibigay sayo with these discounts, yan maniniwala na ako na its really a good promo for buyers.

but if the battery warranty remains the same...

For older model EV's using Li-Ion or NMC batts, it's best to keep the battery's latent charge between 20%-80%. With LFP blade and short blade batteries this is no longer that big of a deal.

For TMPI, many of the hybrids in stock last year were still using battery tech from the early 2000's (Nickel Metal Hydride - the same ones used on pre GSM cellphones). What I heard from the grapevine is that TMPI are due to bring in newer stock with newer batteries this year.

The refreshed corolla cross and altis supposedly had a silent update where they shifted to lithium already

Yes, I did hear about it too but the Toyota PH brochures never seem to mention the battery. Also, I haven't seen any posts yet on social media to show that the batteries have indeed been upgraded. The spare parts I see online, meanwhile, are still either NiMH or the even older lead acid kind.

AFAIK the corolla cross hybrid always had the option of either NiHM or lithium for its HV batteries. The 2.0 engined version seems to be lithium from the get go while the 1.8 launched in japan with lithium(ZVG11) but only in 2wd versions with e-four(ZVG15) models still getting NIHM.

If their chassis designation system is still as consistent with how they did things in the Revo days where the same basic body/chassis and powertrain shares the same chassis code for all regions(e.g ZSG10 for non hybrid 2ZR-FAE) then we would probably get units with a ZVG13 designation (shared with Japan and now EU) for the facelift model.

There is also an in-between ZVG12 non-facelift model for europe that has the facelift's bigger 4.08Ah lithium pack instead of the ZVG11's 3.6Ah.

If it's ZVG10L-DHXGBM or ZVG10L-DHXEBM then it's most definitely NiHM unless TMP can show the battery pack having lithium ion in battery warning labels but that would be troubling for parts support.

Thanks for sharing this! 🙏 It’s really helpful, especially for those of us who often drive around the city and sometimes deal with inconsistent enforcement from MMDA officers.

Just a quick note though — while this information is useful, some parts of that email have been circulating online for years and might be outdated or unofficial. It’s always best to double-check directly with the MMDA hotline (136) or their verified Facebook page before using it as reference during an apprehension.

Still, it’s great advice to know your rights, stay calm, and record interactions politely if something feels off. Appreciate you sharing this reminder, especially this Christmas season when traffic and stress levels are high. 🚗🎄
