racing sedan IIRC
The actual meaning of the RS badge in Japan stands for "ROAD SAILING" it's not racing sedan or racing saloon.
It's some weird form of Japanese Engrish where in it conotes literally a "boat sailing on land".. in simple terms a road cruiser. luma na yung RS badge. way back 70s oldschool civic pa sa Japan.
Locally the 2000 Civic was the first one with the RS edition which came out in sunburst yellow color both for the RS VTi and RS SiR.
2002 the ES Civic also had the RS model in same with the ES VTi.
Wow... that's... different.![]()
I'd still really like to know what the RS in Kia Rio RS means, though.
Ang "RS" sa Ford? Just ask any owner...
Rough Shifting - clunky gearbox
Rides Smooth - even on rough roads
Revs Slowly - kulang ng kaunti yung top-end power
Runs Swiftly - but who needs VTEC?
Raises Smiles - all day long.![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Resing Sabi raw
I thought Racing Spirit.
Bakit meron RSR? sa Porsche and sa Gemballa
Then sa mga evo may RS din kaso sa evo magaan sila.
Then sa Mazda meron din silang tinatawag na Spirit R
Then sa toyota naman may SR naman sa Revo, sa corolla na luma meron din means Stock Racing.
nalilito na ako.
Baka mamaya naman meron JR, MS, MR meron na sa Mitsu.
RS is 'Renn Sport' in Porsce speak.

Need an Ambulance? We sell Zic Brand Oils and Lubricants. Please PM me.
it means a Civic VTi-S wrapped in a Racing Sedan clothing.
same mechanicals as the VTi/VTi-S, the engine is just the same even the size of wheels are same although the design is sportier and seemed to echo the previous Civic SiR's (EK) design (6spoke).
but seriously, it looks good.
So its okay for FORD and HONDA to come up with a RS Trim level for both their compact sedans at the same time?
LYNX RS and Civic RS
currently Honda, Toyota and Mazda has a common "S" variant on their compacts.
Honda Civic 1.8S
Mazda 3 1.6S
Toyota Corolla Altis S ;)
RS in Ford means "Rallye Sport". sa Escort pa noon meron na RS and sa Focus.

"As the catch phrase,” Sailing ON the Road” shows, the sea like the yacht which goes sailing, the feeling good quality which runs the street and the car which can enjoy the sport characteristic it has become."
Dapat pala may sail talaga siya sa bubong...aesthetically different talaga yon!
What is it with word use sa Japan? Weird lang for me...
I mean, Sailor Moon comes to mind LOL
I'm sure sa mga may pangalan with the initials na RS, they would get that car just because of that hehe...my dad replaced our 95 Corolla XE's logo with LG dahil yon yung initials niya (galing sa GLi pero binaliktad at tinanggal yung i)
