Based on the old threads covering the two cars:

    Fuel consumption - Civic
    Maintenance - Civic
    Performance - Civic
Comfort - Civic (more space but the seats are kinda firm)
    Pogi points - Civic

You'll definitely be happier with the Civic than the Optra.

it's not even a fair contest between the two.

    Civic most definitely.

    Ditto vinJ's post, plus:

    Resale Value - Civic

hindi mo kailangan ng saklolo, pumunta ka sa dealership, tignan mo, pakiramdaman mo, pagkatapos request ka ng test drive...

nasa iyo ang huling pasya kung alin doon sa dalawa ang bibilhin mo.

This is a no-brainer...just search for Civic & Optra and read on. I'd even get a 2nd hand Civic than a brand new Optra, but that's just me

bakit optra bro? maiintindihan ko pa sana yung comparison requirement kung Civic vs. Altis, Civic vs. Lancer or Civic vs. Ford Focus.....

well, i guess the way i've answered points out to the preference.

Why even consider the Optra against the Civic? ... buying an optra is almost like shooting yourself in the foot considering the other better options with less headaches.

Aside from the Civic, you might want to consider other cars like the Mazda3, Focus, and upcoming new model Corolla and Lancer.

    Lots of choices out there.

The Optra is quite a comfortable car, with somewhat secure handling, but the engine is coarse, the transmission is terrible and fuel consumption is so-so. The only thing going for it is the low price and the nice body kits available on the SS models.

If you're looking for something to pitch against the Civic, look at the new Focus 1.8 MT Trend. If you're going to sacrifice fuel consumption, you might as well get a car that makes up for it with a premium feel.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Thanks a lot. Know I really know that I should go for the civic. Need ko na kasi ng ride ASAP kaya hindi ko na mahintay yung New Corolla. The only bummer is that the insurance for the civic is 29K .

Mahal nga ang Maintenance ng OPTRA...
I dont know kung dyan every 5000 Km ginagawa ang servicing.
Kung nagastos mo ay 30k sa 60K km service, im sure na pinalitan na ang timing belt mo.
On 60,000 km kasi, kinakailangang palitan na ang timing belt. Part of the major service yan...
Pag di nagawa yan... soon magsasalubong ang piston at valves ng optra mo.
    OPTRA vs Civic.
Ive been dealing with GM vehicles for more than 2 years now.
compared with japanese vehicles which i handled before, iba talaga ang performance ng american cars when it comes to hatak, speed, ride, comfort.
Note that these optra, aveo, spark, epica are GMDAT(GM Daewoo Auto & Tech).... They are Korean made but with GM's technology...
Jap cars are also good.. long lasting(depende sa alaga), economical (mura ang PMS) at mapoporma rin...
You have to decide kung ano ba ang kailangan mo... POWER/SPEED or MONEY-SAVER.....

between this two, civic us the easiest and obvious choice. But if you try to pitch it with other cars like ford, mazda or the new lancer, the choice will become a lot more difficult. But, for me it would always be civic because of performance, fuel effeciency and looks.

    darkeye,

Have you already made your choice by this time?

What should I buy Civic 1.8S or Chevy Optra?
