they are in the different category. city in the sub-compact, mazda 3 in the compact category. mazda 3 will surely be much expensive. in your case, i think FC and maintenance goes to city. resale value is the same. but mazda 3 is much newer. full model change this year while city is only minor change. test drive for the both cars

Sub-compact = Vios, Yaris, Jazz, City, Mazda 2, Fiesta, Rio, Accent and the likes...

Compact = Altis, Elantra, Civic, Lancer EX, Mazda 3 and the likes...

subcompact vs compact difference is the size and price range. Also different is the general engine size. Generally subcompact have smaller engines as compared to compact cars.

As much as I love the Mazda 3 for its sheer driving pleasure, I really can't recommend the Mazda 3 1.6V version. For 999k, you're getting robbed. Slow engine, not much features.

There's the Elantra 1.8 GLS, Altis 1.6 V, Focus 2.0 S and Cruze 1.8 LT, all cheaper, more powerful, and better speced than the Mazda 3.

Civic FB. Seriously, if you're considering a 1M Mazda 3, I don't see any reason for you not to consider the FB as well.

Between your choices, sa MZ3 ako. Mas gwapo eh, fresh pa sa mata. Engine wont be a problem since nung 04 MZ3, yan na makina eh.

agree. if you're considering mazda 3, consider also it's competitors like lancer, altis, civic, elantra. mas sulit sila kaysa 1M price tag ng mazda 3. maganda nga lang talaga ang porma ng mazda 3 :D

Agree. Even before opening the thread eto na naisip ko isuggest. Btw, yung resale ng 1.6 ex will be greater after 4 yrs kasi nasa intro price lang sya ngayon. Just like what happened before nung 2004 sa picanto. Intro price at 330k then nung tumaas yung mga early getters at 330k could still sell their cars at around 300s even after 3 years.

Mazda 3? Grabeng mahal yun. Especially if you consider that it still uses the same platform and even the same 105hp engine! For that price you can get yourself a much better car like the Civic, Elantra or the recently launched new Focus.

Technically, sub-compact is smaller and cheaper. Some have smaller engine output. So it depends on what you really need.
