We have both units actually, and these are some infos I can share:

    Toyota HiAce Commuter 2007
    - got great powerful engine even in full load * steep places
    - all necessary fluids can be accessed via the front hood (radiator, brake/clutch fluid and washer)
    - tall ride height
    - shift knob is dash-mounted which is easy access
    - last 2 rows can be accessed via the back door
    - total passenger is 15 including driver
    - crappy sound system (Toyota OEM) and speaker is only at the front)
    - no power installed on this variant
    - old-school handbrake (pull/turn type)
    - only driver's seat is reclining

    Nissan Escapade
    - great A/C system
    - standard amenities (seat reclining w/ headrest - driver+passenger+first 2 rows back, fog lights, rear door lock control, rear windshield wiper/washer, room lights control and cup holders to all rear seats
    - spacious and hindi masikip for passengers
    - can accomodate 13 passengers including driver
    - need to open passenger side seats to open the engine bay (for radiator)
    - great sound system and speakers at the back

In as far as our experience is concern, may kanya-kanyang followings din etong 2 models na ito depende sa needs ng pasahero....if they want comfort and space they go for Escapade, if they want power and more passengers to load, they go for Toyota.

    Good luck po!

    BTW! Welcome to Tsikot!

Engine reliability - go for Escapade. It uses TD27 timing chain and no "WOES" like Toyota's D4D. Td27 has no computer box although D4D 2.5 diesel of Toyota is more powerful.

Comfort - Escapade wins. Reclined seats and bigger legroom. Headrest are also adjustable. Escapade also used high quality cloth for the seats unlike hiace parang leatheret lang siya.

Standard Equipment - Escapade has Front ELR seatbelts and lap seatbelts for all rear passengers. Rear Wiper is also standard and mag wheels for the tires. Hiace commuters doesn't have rear wipers and uses only steel rims with hubcaps.

The only advantage of Hiace commuter so far is Engine displacement and siempre mas latest. Pero kung pang business and family comfort sa Urvan ako, because of its TD27 engine dependability and reliability. Dami pa surplus parts ng Urvan Escapade .

I go for urvan escapade beacuse its comfortable spaces. Hi ace doesn't have no head rest for the passengers. I rode on the commuter i find out is uncomfortable. And my head is stress beacuse no headrest. what? yes, no headrest for the passenger. Mas gusto ko pa ang Escapade kasi fabric seat siya ang commuter ay vinly seat.

    GO FOR URVAN ESCPADE.!
GOOD LUCK FOR CHOOSING THESE TWO VANS.
