looked at and compared the vios, city, optra also but found out that for the same price of the vios 1.5 - i can get a lancer glx with 1.6 engine, airbag, disc brakes, bigger interior space so i got that instead great value for only 650k+

good for you. the lancer would be better than the optra IMO.

Have you decided? If not I would like to add some comments. Both car look good, but if you plan to use it for 5 years...class and safety is an impt factor then go for the optra. Optra is a compact car, real competitors are the Altis, Civic, Lancer, sentra, lynx while Vios is a sub-compact car. Optra is a gas drinker it average only 6 to 8 km/liter, you really can't blame it, it weights 300 kg more than a Vios and 100 kg more than a Altis or Civic. The car got very thick fender for safety. Then again, Toyota is a more reliable brand, its vehicle are always tougher and Vios is toyota. If resale is a big factor go for Vios.

Hi day finchy I posted same question on this thread Suzuki Swift vs Hyundai Getz vs Honda Jazz vs Chevy Aveo vs Kia Picanto . I considered the comments and suggestions. I ended up buying the aveo sedan. You can read my reasons on that thread. I think buying a car must fit your needs and priority if you are very much concern about the resale then go for the Japs like vios.
You must test drive the vehicles, consider which are you comfortable with. and most Importantly I think get opinions from those with first hand experience, talaga. Good Luck... BTW wala man yellow cabs cebu puro white

Hi Everyone!

I'm Kirk from berlin, Germany. I live in manila, and to choose between the chevrolet optra and toyota vios, i choose the OPTRA. It's actually a great car to drive. the handling great, and the engine's really quiet.

gas consumption is a bit harsh, but not that bad.. eventhough the engine's daewoo, but hey, korean engines are getting better and with the help of chevrolet, things are getting much better.

interiors are really great and my girlfriend loves it...

sometimes you really have to choose between style and comfort, for this case i chose the Optra..

Hope this helps for those who want to choose... Vios' aren't that bad either..
