GLi po is top of the line nung time na yon, it has 1.6liter engine, electronic fuel injection(efi), power steening, power windows, side view mirror, and door locks + defogger, yung intrument panel nya may speedomeer and tachometer, mags is alloy, kenwood ang HU

XL is 1.3liter engine (kaburador) pawis steering as in sobrang bigat madevelop ang muscles mo. manu mano and windows and side view mirror at door lock. it comes with steel rims, yung front and rear bumper comes in black walang pintura. intrumet panel has speedometer only. fujitsu ten ang HU

XE is between GLi and XL- 1.3 liter engine, power steering pero manual window and side view mirrow same intrument panel and mags as GLi.
    bumper is body color

I use to drive a GLi but sold it last year, had it for 6 years, best performance IMHO- 9 kms per liter in city driving, 11 Kms on highway.

my wife drives an XE dati and a cousin owns an XL kaya ko po alam. fuel consumption is the same as GLi on my experience. mas maliit ang engine displacement kaya lang karburador kaya siguro pahero.

    hope i was of help

    add ko lang

    XL

    -2 speakers only
-no mudguards (pag meron pinakabitan na lang yun)
    -2 spoke steering wheel
    -no clock
-walang cover ang center console box (between the front seats)
    -no rear seatbelts
    -hard plastic ang ceiling (headliner)

    XE

    same as XL except:

    -may clock na
    -may mudguards na
-some '97 models have 4 spoke steering wheel with airbag
    -has rear seatbelts

    GLi

    -4 speakers
    -clock
    -mudguards
-4 spoke steering wheel with airbag
    -ABS (for '97 models only)
    -60/40 folding rear seats
    -rear seatbelts
    -4 way adjustable front headrests
    -adjustable height front seatbelts
-may cover ang center console box between the seats
    -velour ang ceiling/headliner

May lumabas bang XL and XE na 'matic? I've never seen one, but obviously, that doesn't necessarily mean na wala. ;)

Our 1995 XE had black bumpers, not body color. Perhaps it was an option? I can attest the rest are correct. Our XE had a Sony HU instead of the base stereo of the XL model. The garnish between the tail lights were standard grey too for our XE but my dad replaced it with one from GLi.

sir 93-95 XE models have black bumpers as standard. pero you can request to have it in the same color as the body late '95, and 96-97 XE's have body colored bumpers already

xl owner here. the best ito for low maintenance and economy. my gas consumption for city driving is 11-12km/l(from alabang to cubao everyday) and can reach up to 14-15km/l(when i go to tarlac once a week). my brothers gli naman talagang malakas sa gas 9km/l ang average nya, light foot na ang inaapply nya dito. and can go down to as low as 7km/l kung spirited driving.

great info handyman.. actually I'm into a search to buy a corolla too pero lovelife body prefered ko and 1.3 XE. After reading above thread, is it also true for 1.3 to have the same gas consumption with GLI (both lovelife body)?? else, dun na ko sa GLI. Kaya lang i've heard na medyo malakas talaga sa gas yung GLI.. appreciate all your inputs guys... and thanks for sharing.

I've driven all the Corolla variants over the years, halos parepareho lang fuel consumption nyan, parang matipid pa nga ng konti yung GLI e.

oo nga sir..siguro it has something to do with the EFI system, mas efficient compared to the carbed engines of the XL and the XE

my firend drives a lovelife m/t gli and he claims to have an average consumption of 10-11kms/L at pagharabas daw siya magmaneho ay mga 8-9 lang, not bad, sakin 1.8 na a/t i only get 8-9kms/L at pagharabas ay 7 lang, kaya kung bili man kayo gli na, extra power for more or less the same consumption ng XE or XL.

(i work and live here) 1k of gas lasts for about 1 1/2 weeks. mine is a 2001 1.6 GLi M/T.

I had a '94 XL before and parehong 10km per liter based sa experience. Actually I expected that the GLi's mileage will be at 8km per liter only but I was surprised. Kung kaya ng budget get the GLi as mentioned na rin above. Sa pawis steering naman ng XL hirap lang talaga sa parking, tapos 195/55/15 pa nilagay ko plus 12" after market sports steering wheel.

    Have a 99XE lovelife. 190Km na. FC averages 12.5km/liter.

Have my tune-ups every 15K (after the 50km mark) - para tipid but change my oil every 5k to 10k depending on oil condition.

I make sure that spark plugs are clean every 5k (clean it by myself using steel brush and gas - pinagmasdan ko ginagawa ng mekaniko ko para tipid)

    Hi,

My everyday car is a '94 Corolla XE.

Yung guess ko talaga na konsumo ko was 9 km/liter city driving
and maybe 10 km/liter if I drive with the A/C off kapag gabi.
Reading what you have posted here confirms my guess, sigh.
Maliit makina niya, pero halos same consumption sa CRV ng dad ko which is 8 km/liter.

Tomorrow I'll have my XE tune-up, I'm hoping na ma-improve ko yung consumption niya.
