I currently own a 1999 Corolla Lovelife 1.3 2e engine, though the car is ok and the engine is in good condition, I only get 7-9kl/litre in city driving .. The car also struggles to move from a dead stop when on full loads of people.

Mas magagamit ko pa yung extra power ng 1.6 kapag full load ang kotse while maintaining the same fuel consumption..

For a car na more than 10 yrs old na, ano usually mgkakaproblema sa EFI na makina ??? Sa 2e carburetor ko kasi, madali at mura lng yung maintenance, cleaning, etc ...

    Need help po guyz ....

Are you sure the car was well maintained. I had a 1996 GLi that I sold last year. I had absolutely no engine problems. No repairs done on the engine in 18 years.

when i was in college, my car was a 1.3 XE. talagang underpowered yun. nakakahiya pa kapag may kasama kang mga chicks, coz hirap na hirap nga sa arangkada. when i graduated from school, i immediately invested in a 4AGE Silvertop. didn't have that problem anymore.

    kayong mga bata ngayon...
nung panahon namin, "underpowered" meant local rubber shoes during the intrams.. adidas hurricane (local 'to noon) worth 89.95 kesos, start of cool... adidas rom, status symbol na 'yon..superstar, bigtime ka na! stan smith.. hulog ng langit! (either may uncle ka sa US, o smuggler si kuya).

Hehe. But really the 1.3 xe has the worse power to weight ratio. I think it is only running with 70hp and also around the same number for torque, but it is pulling what we call a "big body" corolla back then.

A 2000 XE with 2E engine was my daily driver until 2 years ago when it was upgraded to a 2005 Altis 1.6J. In my experience mas matipid pa yung Altis kesa dun sa lovelife na dati kong gamit with power to boot.

I'll get the GLi so long as it was a properly maintained model. The usual problems on old EFI cars would be erratic or divebombing idling but this can be fixed (cleaning sensors, ensuring your ground wires and HT wires are good, cleaning the intake manifold, IACV, etc.).

We also had a AE101 and AE111 1.3L back in the day and it served its purpose. I prefer EFI cars as these are more consistent with the FC and they're more straightforward to maintain in my case.

Are there no issues that na tirik ang EFI on long drives, pagnatirik kasi ang 2e, madali lang i-trouble shoot ng kahit sinong mechanic, ang EFI ba mahirap i-trouble shoot ??

hehehehehee .. I'm not single anymore, my current 2e 1.3 is use as a family car ... usually a up to 5 people plus luggage in the trunk, thats where the extra power of the GLI 1.6 could be put to good use .. Cannot afford an old school sportivo as of the moment .. I'm currently in a crossroad whether to sell my 2e 1.3, the thing that scares me is what if I've regret buying an EFI when problems arise, it the cost of repairing an EFI compare to a carburetor .. a carburetor is easy and cheap to maintain .. but underpowered nga lang ..

I had the same problem with power so i invested in a supercar with 600bhp also dated chicks who weight at most 115 pounds. Pag 118 pounds parang underpowered na yung Ferrari. Then again I weigh 400 pounds so baka ako may problema. Hehe

Kidding aside make sure well maintained ang makuha mo na gli.

generally, an EFI engine is more fuel-efficient than a carbed engine.
efi adjustments also last much longer than carb...
but once the efi starts acting up, it can be a bigger pain in the head as well as in the wallet, to fix.
