Depends on how deep your pockets and how much work you want to do.
The A31 Cefiro already comes with an RB-series engine... simple swap lang yung Skyline RB25DET dun... 250 hp drift-car na...
But my favorite set-up for the Cefiro is with the Silvia SR20DET engine. It makes the front end much lighter, which makes for great car dynamics.
But finding a Cefiro in pristine condition is much harder than finding a relatively good-looking GTi Galant... of course, the Galant looks better in the first place.
Personally, I prefer the Galant. AMG would be great, but getting an original AMG engine in might take too much work... I'd simply massage the engine (maybe do a ground-up rebuild of the 4G63, port and polish, balancing, high compression pistons, detailing, etcetera) and slap on some intake and exhaust goodies... it'd be my own personal AMG...
Then I'd slap on some simple suspension mods, Evo mags and good tires, and maybe VR4 brakes. Detailing detailing detailing, I'm done... A classic sleeper with some pep. It wouldn't be a drift-weapon like the Cefiro, but I'll have spent less on a better-looking car that I could use every day.
And there's always the option of a VR4 AWD swap, which would make it blazingly fast... but I like to keep things simple...

The old school A31 is very much a classic... especially if you can find the rare Autech bodykit. However finding a good unit, then rebuilding this will take more time and money vis-a-vis the Galant.

Nah... I mean the full VR4 thing, turbo engine and AWD.
But I don't think the VR4 AWD will give you that much joy... there's more understeer in the older AWDs than the current Evos and Scoobies.
The thrill of driving comes from a car that's light and well-balanced... maybe a VR4 engine mated to the basic GTi, along with a limited-slip front-differential would be nice.

August 29th, 2007 09:17 PM #19Since you would need the car for your so called "project car" the A31 is the right car for you dude pare.. tons of branded aftermarket tune parts for the car for its immense popularity. This car can do track as well as drift coz it simply shares some characteristics of other iconic sports cars-- shares suspension w/ the Silvia S13 and I think the floor plan is similar to the original Godzilla- the Skyline R32. The versatility of the car is almost limitless.. if you ask true tuners kahit not here try going to other popular car forum sites outside the country, I bet you'll gonna get the same answer. Ever heard of the popular asian skyfiro? And as you said naman pre your more inclined to it na... I'll never stop you go ahead and enjoy!
