Which SUV to get?

Budget is around 3-4m.

So far, we're still choosing among the ff:

Toyota Landcruiser
Toyota Prado
Dodge Durango
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Audi A5

Out na ang Expedition, Suburban, Pajero, Veracruz, Mohave, Patrol, Tribeca and Jeep Commander. We're also not considering the X1, RX, GLK and XC60 just so we're clear on this

Criteria (in no particular order):

Exclusivity is a plus, but not the be-all and end-all
Reasonably fuel-efficient
Easy to maneuver
Lots of bells & whistles

Pros and Cons?

Land cruiser. But if you have a little more budget to squeeze on, the latest Patrol would be the best overall.

don't get the jeep dami kalampag nan, my tita owned one just last year and she sold it already. i've also read a lot of complains on other forums. not a big fan of the durango, i like the audi a5 but i'd go with either the prado or land cruiser since it's more of a practical choice compared to the a5 and both the prado and land cruiser can go anywhere you take it.

Either the JGC or the LC for me because they satisfy all of you're criteria IMHO. But the LC seems to be more frugal and maintenance wise much more easy so I'll probably buy it if I were you given the limited choices we're dealing here.

Question lang; why no BMW X5? Hindi ba pasok sa budget kahit 2nd hand? Also hindi naman SUV A5 ah, bakit kasama sa choices mo? Baka Q5? Also, yung LC TOTL 4.5M. Sobra din sa budget mo. Puwede 2nd hand na ganun.

As for the X5, way over our budget. same goes for the Patrol Royale.

No 2nd hands, my dad will be the car's primary user and he's always been biased against 2nd hand cars.

Hindi ba extended platform lang ng JGC yung bagong Durango? Does that mean that it's very likely na ma-kalampag rin ito?

Lampas na rin sa budget ang LC. (tama ba) Prado = sure thing. Pero Q5 ang mas may arrive. Kaya lang pag park mo ng mall lagi mo ituturo sa guard kung pano sasara ang tailgate.hehe

Pros:
Exclusive, not that many on the road
Unique and Rugged SUV
Easy to Maneuver, shorter than an LC
Fuel Efficient V6 with Dual VVt-i and 5 Speed ECT-i Automatic Transmission
Cheaper than LC/Prado, and fits your budget perfectly
Cons:
Only 5 Seats
Oversized Subwoofer( if you're an audiophile never mind)
and Suicide Doors...

Hirap sa piyesa yan at kung hindi mo i-pang-o-offroad, sayang pera kasi doon yan designed eh. Hindi pang-city porma eh. LC na lang.

I'm not getting the "easy to maneuver" criteria. For example, our Expedition, even though it's damn big, has lighter handling compared to my own Sonata. Just tipping the steering a bit and it'll follow.

Anyway,

Out of all the vehicles. I'll narrow it down to just two:
#1 Audi Q5
#2 Toyota Land Cruiser

There are lesser Audi Q5 than Toyota LCs out on the road. So exclusivity-wise, Audi wins this hands-down. Based on any non-gearhead point-of-view, both of them would be equally expensive. They see the Land Cruiser as something expensive due to its size (bigger = more expensive ;) ) and because most politicians sport them. And as most people, we equate politicians with power and power into moolah. More "educated" drivers would appreciate the 3 rings. However, do note that the Q5 is significantly smaller versus the Land Cruiser. So take that into account before purchase.

The Q5 would be obviously win this. Diesel + 2.0L engine = fuel miser. If you aren't the type who likes to see 5,000php gas bills every other week (on our Expedition, we're getting the fuel bill every week. But that's due to our poor FC 2-4km/L ), Q5 would be your priority.

Lots of bells and whistles. The Q5 starts very near the 4m mark. With the Premium being 500k more and you get more goodies (bigger rims 18-> 19", auto-dimming side view mirror, panoramic sunroof, and a Bang and Olufsen [yeah, the sound company that sells their CD changer at 40k php prices in Greenbelt 5] speaker system). The Land Cruiser on the otherhand starts at 4.5m. The ball's on your side on how much are you willing to dish out.

i agree with this, the fj cruiser is meant to be driven off road not in the city. so if you don't go off road it's a waste of money. ang dami ko nga nakikita sa rockwell na driver driven fj cruiser tapos yung amo nasa likod eh sobra sikip ng likod non.

Q5 or LC lang rin choice for me. If most of the time your father will drive, get the Q5. If not, then LC.

For me LC or prado for wiser choice, re FJ di ko talaga type yan parang classic dating IMO

Meron din dito sa amin na ganyan kaso lagi sa Toyota Dealership. Parang gusto ko nga puntahan (tapat lang namin eh) but somehow I feel shy.
