    Hi,

I'm new to this thread and fairly new din sa mga cars. Magtatanong lng po sana ko what car model would be a good choice for a second hand car. Budget ko po is around 300k but mas ok if pwede lower dun since probably may aayusin pa dun sa car. What po kaya masu-suggest nyo na car in terms of looks and performance and madaling i-setup? I am looking for something na a little modern na yung styling. Thank you po sa time nyo.

In addition to what kuts posted, you could consider a 2000 to 2003 Honda City type Z.

Aside from the modern styling and ease of modifications, is there anything else that you're looking for (e.g., fuel consumption, interior space, trunk space, power, resale value, maintenance, etc.)?

Thank you po for all your replies.

Fuel economy and the cost of maintaining the car are some of the factors I also consider. Resale value is a plus but not so much kasi kung sakali third owner na yung magbuy nun eh. Trunk space and interior space not so much of a factor din for me.

Ano po b yung difference ng 2000 to 2003 Honda City type Z sa 1999-2000 Civic VTI?

sedan po sana kasi malakas yta masyado sa gas yung suv eh and parang mas mahirap po lagyan ng modification in my opinion po pero correct nyo po ko kung mali. hehe wala ko masyado experience tlga eh

how much po ba yung SIR? and aside sa engine malaki po ba difference nya sa VTI? And how much po ba dpat ko itabi para sa mga pagpapaayos?

    thanks po sa mga reply

An Sir would fetch higher than 330k, same body sila ng Civic Vti 99 to 2000, Sir is 1.8 I think while Vti is 1.6 to be on the safe side better allot 50k for repairs.

SIR. i think it has 1.6 liter engine.

    Based on wikipedia.
The 1999 Civic Si trim featured a 1.6-liter B16A2 (SiR only) engine that made 160 hp (120 kW) at 7,600 RPM and 111 ft-lbs. of torque at 7,000 RPM in a car that weighed roughly 2,600 lbs.
    To TS.

I've been in your situation before and most people suggested that i should get a B/N over a second hand car.
Why? coz mainly its brandnew. thats it. Hassle free and you will be the first one to own it. Wow, sarap nun di ba?

Actually. Ganyan din ang naging budget ko before(or less than that), pinagpilian ko dati eh SIR, GSR, Lynx etc. Then post sa forum, asked suggestion/opinion kung ano maganda and most of them tell me get a brandnew instead of 2nd hand.

So after months and even years of careful thinking, what i did is this, brandnew kinuha ko, Satisfied with it except the fact that its a bit gas thirsty.

Kung may pera ka naman dumadating kada buwan, i dont think that it will be hard for you to pay the monthly amortization is'nt it?

Well that is just my opinion,

Pero if you really want a 2nd hand car, with that budget, Ok na Ok ang civic 99 or 2000, or a nissan sentra gts 1999, if you are not particular with any brand.
Based on the classified section of tsikot. Nissan sentra GTS price range from 210K-220K. Then may almost 100K ka pa for mods and repair.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

Right now based po sa mga suggestions nyo I'm considering the Honda VTI SIR body, Honda SIR (if may makita sana na wala pa mods).

*Sir carlo_41786, gusto ko din sana brand new pero right now I'm leaning towards the 2nd hand market eh medyo madami kasi kailangan bayaran eh bka maipit sa monthly amortization hehe.

fuel consumption - it depends on the car. do you drive alone? or do you have a family with you? if you have a family i would suggest a bigger car. suzuki vitara consumes roughly around 8-9km/l daw, similar to an average SiR

a worthy SiR (i mean not abused and in good condition) would cost maybe around 400k na. cause SiRs has really high resale values. and oh the engine. if you forget about FC and keep stepping on the thing then it would be worse than a bigger car.

do you mind a diesel, and converted vehicle? you could also try isuzu MU nasa 250k yata jan sa manila dito sa mindanao nasa 300+ e. mine consumes 9km/l higway and 6km/l city (ouch) but i have yet to top overhaul my MU as i reckon it has some problems. they say a stock MU with 4jb1t engine with stock 31" tires would consume around 10km/l more or less city driving. isuzu diesel engines are good, durable and fuel efficient, yet powerfull enough (isuzu MU has a light body)

    isuzu MU

2-door esi, hmmm import yata ito, afaik 4-door lang nirelease dito sa pinas na esi. for 350k medyo mahal yata, ever for a mitsu gsr. dapat nsa around less than 300k yan. for that budget, i would go for civic dimension body or if makahanap ka ng atis panalo yan. i've seen altis na nakaset up, ang ganda

Why buy a 300 thousand plus second hand car & spend 50 thousand for the repairs? Parang di praktical ah. The fact na mahal ang resale value meaning parang nothing to fix na dahil matibay nga sabi nila. Before, ganon rin ako thought of buying a 300k used car but then inisip ko rin if may ipaparepair pa huwag na lang. I ended up buying a 100 thousand second hand car.

    To the thread starter...
At 300K go for an SIR. medyo less depreciation ang car na 2 over the years. Ok sana brandnew, but the thing is yung maintenance ng casa is sooohhh expensive, if you know how to maintain a car really. almost 3x cost.. And besides the older the car the lower the cost of parts from outside suppliers... factor in the interest rates that banks or casa will earn on your money... But a new car is a new car... mahal ung 2-door na esi front. nsa 125K-190K yata yun at stock. Kung naka b16a-ef nasa 200K and up na..

Suggestion for 2nd hand car..
