as usual, i would advise you to stay away from these converted vans for safety reasons.

ako, kung may TLC ka,willing to learn, this van are of a good choice...

ganito, ung supercustom ang 3.0 (1-kz) engine, available in either full-time awd or 2wd.all creature comforts except: cold/hot box w/ic maker, water boiler, digital guages and plushier seating. engine, much mahal and rarer kasi makina na ng prado ya, e bibihira pero maganda nyan is EFI..and the power is good..pero kung may makukuha kang 3L(2.8L) masmadali piyesa mo sa makina, pero di siya kasing lakas ng 3.0L tsaka, older model ang mga may 2.8L, with 2wd or part-time 4wd available.may 2-sunroof or higher 3-sunroof...some are with very high roof, commonly available in 1-side silding door, pero noong last auction sa malinta, may super custom 3.0 na 4wd na 2 sides ang sliding doors..dont know kung optional din ung TEMS....

delica spacegear 4wd exceed: 2.8L na 4m40..a reliable engine ung 2wd na spacegear 4d56 turbo-intercooler...all creature comforts pero some units dont have crystalite roof, 2nd row captain chairs, curtains and cold/hot box... pero malamang wala talaga is ung auto-climate control, ECS(elecronic-controlled suspension), head-light washer.

ang advantage ng spacegear is its walk through configuration, and its 4wd system is of the pajero! in short, its a pajero in a van suit! in flat roof, with/without sunroof, and high roof/crystalite roof...its truely an MPV (van, off-roader, limo, personal ride,etc..)

both seats 7 comfortably, but you can make sik-sik up to 12-15 siguro....nissan i could recommend, pero mahirap talaga piyesa nyan...

honetly, i owned a delica exceed w/sunroof which i sold last october....ang gusto ko sana either a 3.0L awd hi-ace supercustom-limited or a spacegear 4wd superexceed or the much limited and longer ROYAL EXCEED...pero budget constraints so i replaced it with a liteace fxv (top-of-the-line)

it's rare and expensive but those hi-ace supercustom with superhigh roofs and dual-sliding doors are well worth it nice engine + amenities = one really good ride, for as long as the steering conversion is properly done! if i only had the time to wait it out i wouldn't have settled for my odyssey.

OT: are EFI turbodiesels actually gen1 CRDi's?

  8. #8
di pa ata....its just the fuel delivery, instead of using the traditional mechanical fuel injector, this are equipped with an electric pump...

CRDi's are of different level, revamped fuel injection system, instead of 4 fuel lines from the injector(1/ cylinder), the fuel travels on 1 line then splits to individual cylinders...much higher pressure and mas vaporized ung fuel, na directly injected sa cylinder, di na siya iikot pa muna bago makadating sa cylinder...

nga pala, ang isa pang prob sa HI-ACE is its chuck full of electronics (EFI,TEMS,ECT,etc..), na konting sira lang,o sia lang isang sensor, akala mo o ng common mechaniko ay napakalaki na..(experience ko sa liteace ko!)

ung delica kasi more on mechanical technology...old, but reliable and easier to maintain by you and your common neighborhood mekaniko...

tol kung may extra budget pa, local van na lang... may kakilala ako bumili ng delica, ang kinis at ang ganda... dinala sa trece martirez, cavite from meyc, bulacan... over heat. pina-gawa dun, pag-uwi, over heat ulet sa roxas blvd. delicaDO pala. ewan ko rin, siguro depende sa makuha mo. pero halos lahat ng nakita kong nasa shoulder ng SLEX at NLEX ay mga cars from subic. tumutulo ilalim. :D

sa swerte at maintenance lang mga yun....kasi they're 10 years old na and most of these are na-stock sa dealer/auction yards.....even local sa atin pag di maingat or what we call people who "drive and drive until it dies", mga taong naalala lang ang maintenance kung di na tumakbo ang sasakyan....talagang masisira kahit anu mang bagay, di ba?

well, its up to you in the end....pero a well maintained JDM will and alwayz out pace any well maintained local...sa kaha palang di ka na talo!
