my choices:
Engine - Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi
Tranny - Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi
Space - Toyota Corolla Altis 2.0V
Suspension - Toyota Corolla Altis 2.0V
Looks - Toyota Corolla Altis 2.0V (i go for lifestyle, not into sporty looks)
Ergonomics - Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT-A
Pricing - all are close
Fuel Efficiency - Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi / Toyota Corolla Altis 2.0V
Maintenance - Toyota Corolla Altis 2.0V
Overall Package:
Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT-A / Toyota Corolla Altis 2.0V (with upgraded multimedia entertainment system)
for everything listed, its hard to beat the Ford Focus TDCi Sport.
its been on sale in different markets for a while now and there really hasnt been any major reliability issues especially for the diesels...
Personally Lancer EX GTA ako overall with the Ford a close second because of its frugal and torquey diesel. The Corolla is a distant third for me. Boring and old school automatic transmission but siguro ito yung Point A-B type of car. But di pa naman ako tatay so I choose the 2 sportier alternatives.
Is it safe to assume that 2 liter midsized cars are the new 1.6 of yesteryears? If so dito talga ang bakbakan sa bentahan ng mga auto makers..ooops Ot pero konektado pa naman kahit papano![]()
Engine - Focus TDCi > Civic > Lancer/Mazda/Subie/Corolla
tranny (automatic) - Focus TDCi > Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT-A > Civic (everything else is blech)
tranny (manual) - Civic > Lancer/Subaru > Focus TDCi
space - Civic > Lancer > Altis > Mazda3/Focus > Subaru
suspension (performance) - Focus TDCi / Subaru Impreza / Lancer > Civic > Mazda3 > Corolla
suspension (comfort) - Corolla > Focus / Impreza / Mazda3 > Lancer > Civic
looks - Lancer
ergonomics - They're all pretty good
pricing - They all cost the same, right? Want a bargain, though, Focus 2.0 Flexfuel.
fuel efficiency - Focus TDCi >>> Corolla > Civic > Mazda3 / Subie / Lancer
overall package - Lancer / Focus
Whats your pick? - Focus TDCi. Or, if I had to buy a gasser, either the Subaru (if I didn't care about rear legroom) 2.0R MT or the Lancer (if I did) EX GT MT.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Btw, walang plano maglabas ang Nissan sa segment nato? They're missing a lot.
Focus TDCi ako consumes diesel like a 1.1 engine performs like a sports car.

Engine - Focus
tranny - Focus
space - Civic
suspension - Focus (sport) or Altis (comfort)
looks - Focus
ergonomics - Altis
pricing - Altis
fuel efficiency - Focus
overall package?
Focus is great due to TDCI power. But ride isn't very comfortable for passengers due to sporty handling. Also, replacement has been announced for 2010 .
Lancer EX GT is ok except for tiny boot space. Also, price went up to 1.375M recently.
MAzda 3 - Replacement has been announced already.
Subaru - Interior space impractical.
Civic - Great package except for its very hard and uncomfortable leather seats.
Altis - Not the best in all criteria but still the best package overall due to comfort/luxury features, good value, yet it costs less than everyone else except the Mazda.

Lancer EX GT. Three-pedal driver from day one. I like the directness of a manual. So I'd pass up for the CVT.
I would have voted for the Focus diesel, but I don't like the look of the headlamps of the current gen's. Overall, it looks like a sissy car compared to the EX in my opinion.
