siguro mas maganda kung Intercooler.
mas mataas ang power ng intercooler.
not intercooler=85hp
Intercooler=103hp
mas mababa yung RPM ng intercooler at higher speed. kaya mag intercooler ka nalang. mas malakas pa ang hatak.

May 20th, 2007 05:19 AM #3Do you mean with and without a turbo? Or just the intercooler? If the latter, I'd say go with the intercooler kasi mas efficient yung pag gana nung turbo mo. Kung yung former naman, depende sa iyo. Kung OK ka na power mo without turbo, mas matipid yun. Pero kung ang choice ay between an engine of bigger size and a smaller engine with turbo, AFAIK, mas efficient yung latter.

The turbo works like a compressor, it compresses air into the engine, as air is being compressed, it heats up, upon heating up, air expands and becomes less dense, having the air from the turbocharger passing through the intercooler cools it making the air cooler and denser making the process of turbo charging more efficiant specially with higher charge turbo chargers. Low charge turbo chargers on the other hand is just about right even without intercoolers like the JDM 2C engines for example found in Tamaraw FX's.
He's trying to point out the difference of a Naturally Aspirated (N.A.) against an intercooled-turbo charged engine. For the bulk of the starex, my take is that the 4D56 may be too underpowered for the carriage size.
To answer the thread starter, it depends to the size of your vehicle, if the N.A. can provide you ample power, then I think that's more efficient than having an intercooler-turbo kit installed in to your engine. On the other hand, if the engine is originally intended to be N.A. yes you can install an intercooler turbo kit in it however, such modification may sacrifice it's reliability,

May 20th, 2007 04:12 PM #6when you say intercooler for starex this means it haas an intercooled turbo. maybe what he meant for non-intercooler is a turbocharged starex which is not intercooled. the older starex came in with 2 different engines. the 2.6L diesel which is not turbocharged and the 2.5L turbocharged engine. in 1999 a 2.5L turbo with intercooler came out then came the crdi models.
the intercooler turbo of course has better power rating than the turbo model.

Starex turbo with intercooler vs. without intercooler...
Suggest you get the one with the intercooler,- more efficient,- and less strain.
However, coming from a high speed drive, and stopping,- keep the engine idling for a couple of minutes to cool it down....

IIRC they're with AVID. The reported numbers in the TG article are from CAMPI.
