    I was initially planning to buy the XV but opted to buy the forester due to this issue about space esp the headroom. nakakasakal kc un feeling unlike the forester na u feel there's more air to breathe in the fozzie as compared to the XV but first love ko un XV ah!

    i think it would really depend on what car gives you the most smile when ur driving it. For me, important is i'm going to enjoy it and i'm going to get the most bang for my buck. Before i've also thought about the tucson, sportage, CRV as one of the options for the next car purchase but in the end opted for the forester.

    What made me go for the forester was the
    - brand (included na un reliability ng Subaru brand)
    - the features (CRV has the crappiest feature list among the SUVs for its low to mid level price range)
    - the handling
    - he comfort of driving it (i love the seats vs the sportage and tucson parang ang tigas eh hehehe).
    - the space

    So at the end of the day, it really depends on what makes you happy and what car meets your criteria for your daily needs as well and of course un pasok sa budget

    Btw, on a side note, you mean me dala ka pang tape measure when you go check the cars? haha nakakatuwa nman un passion mo in choosing the best car for you!

    Matigas pa rin ba seats ng new CRV?

    I'd go for either CX-5 or Sportage CRDI. XV is really too small for me, parang same size lang ng ASX which makes ASX a better value. You can also check out Xtrail CVT with this price range. It's possible Nissan can give good discounts. Montero will always be a good value which makes it the same with Innova. Your "wants" and "needs" will be fighting to the death here so test drive your choices.

    Significant ba that the Forester 2.0 has 4-speed AT while most cars now have 5-speed or 6-speed? Ano ba naidudulot ng mas marami?

    Significant if you're after FC but your route is a bigger factor. For city driving, 4 or 6 speed won't make any difference. My Xtrail 2L can get 6.3km/L in pure city driving while my Xtrail CVT can only do 5.5km/L. In highways, my 2L can do 7km/L while the CVT can do 8km/L.

    still as confused as ever.

    tier 1: Subaru XV base model
    tier 2: Subaru Forester 2.0; Sportage (diesel or gas) or the slightly safer choice, Tucson (diesel or gas);
    tier 3: Mazda CX-5 (but it's 50K above-budget)

    now down to:

    Subaru XV vs. Sportage CRDi

    XV (P 1.398M) costs about 100,000 more than the Sportage CRDi (P1.290M).

    Here are the ways by which they differ:

    1. The XV is AWD, while Sportage is FWD;
    2. The XV has 7 airbags, while Sportage only has 2;
    3. The XV has CVT, while Sportage is 6-speed AT;
    4. The XV has a (small) sunroof, while Sportage has none;
    5. The XV has paddle shifters (not that I know what's it for hehe), while Sportage has none;
    6. The XV has auto climate control AC, while Sportage has manual control;
    7. The Sportage has daytime running light, while XV has none.
    8. The Sportage's diesel fuel costs about 10 pesos less than XV's gas.

    Surprisingly, height specs are about the same: Sportage 1,645mm v. XV's 1615mm or a difference of 30mm or 1.18 inches.

    I'm now trying to compare the cost of PMS for both.
