Stay away from the LEC. I have a relative who owns a Sentra LEC-PS. As with a Nissan, the aircon is very cold, so cold that our Trooper cannot compare. But the engine is weak and thirsty. And being a carbureted engine, there are the usual problems like having to calibrate it every so often... If you're gonna buy, always look for EFI engined cars. Get the Series 3 for a better looking, more powerful, and more spacious car.

Although there may be cases na talagang immaculately restored siya after being flooded to the point na walang trace na nabaha siya (which is the case of the Mazda 6 ng anak ng isang ninong ko, which spent almost a year in the casa... ). With the sloppily remedied units, usually medyo mabaho ang loob, yung tipong damp smell. And then you might be seeing rust here and there, try peeking on the metal parts inside the car and under the carpet, beneath the car and in the engine bay. And if you notice that the exhaust pipe isn't in good condition (yung parang maitim na, puro kalawang, at parang uling nalang ang natira), avoid at all costs kahit maganda pa ang body niya along with a shiny paint job, this usually hints at an engine that is in bad condition. Test drive the vehicle in different kinds of driving environments. Listen for any sort of kalampag from the engine and the suspension. Maraming ways kung paano makahuli ng mga ganon, hindi ko maiisip lahat kaagad, though there is a thread here that discusses about how to find out if a car was flooded, search mo nalang iyon.

tignan mo na lang yung bolts that hold the seats to the floor. pag may kalawang ibig sabihin nababad. wala naman dahilan para kalawangin yun unless tinaggal yung bolts isa isa tas binabad sa tubig tas binalik (what kind of idiot would do that naman?).

tapos run your finger sa ilalim ng hinges ng mga pinto. turo sakin ito ng buy and sell na pinsan ko... and amazingly enough, after more than 1 year na nangyari yung ondoy, andami pa din putik sa lugar na yun pag tumitingin ang pamilya namin ng 2nd hand (tas sabi ng seller flood free... utut mo brown yung putik/alikabok eh! hehehe).

Instead of a LEC, you can go for a 92 Sentra Super Saloon with ECCS. It's not carbureted.
But a 3 series would be a good way to go. Go for the 1.6GE ECCS engine. same engine as the 2nd series SS Sentra. There's some nice ones out there in the market.

Open up the engine bay, check the corners of the engine bay..the frame. make sure you see no welding. it should be smooth. all doors must close and shut properly. Stay away from lowered cars...it means that the owner did a lot of modifications to it. stay with stock cars.
There's some nice ones out there..be patient and don't rush.
    Goodluck

B13 Sentra (series 2) cars are a bad candidate to lower. The front suspension travel is already short in it's factory setup, lowering it simply makes the travel much shorter. This results in bottoming out of the front suspension often and makes the car not handle well in the corners (unless you have a very stiff suspension setup).

Stay away from carburators. Mahal na sa gas. Minsan ang hirap pa i-start. Lastly bawal na nga sa E-10.

Try to haggle the price of the Series 3 EFi to 115k the least 120k. Para may 10-15k ka pa panggastos sa spare parts or replacements.

We sold a Series 3 Ex Saloon for 80k last October 2010, kaso sira na yung battery, tinatamad na kami palitan, walang stereo, isa lang yung speaker, tigas pa ng clutch.

Ngaun nakita ko binebenta na siya for 135k negotiable. Tipid nga pala sa gas ng 1.4 Ex Saloon Fuel Injected.
