    Good day Tsikoteers,

I just want your inputs regarding this. Lately, I've been contemplating on selling my ESi in order to get a Sentra Series 3/4. Do you think it's worth it?

Here are what I had spent on my Civic. No major headaches naman, puro Preventive Maintenance lang.

Timing belt, aircon belt, alternator belt replacement - 5k

Radiator overhaul, radiator hose replacement - 2k

    ECU repair - 3k

    New 3M Tint - 4k

    Comprehensive Insurance - 6k

Brake master replacement, new pads, new shoes, new wheel cylinders - 9k

What do you guys think? Should I keep my Civic instead?

To cut the story short, majority ng 2nd hand cars may hidden defect or kung wala man, may mga malapit nang masira or bumigay. Expect to shell out more of your hard-earned mony to fix these defects na ipinapasa lang ng mga 2nd hand car sellers because really..... WHO in their right mind would sell a perfectly working and/or a properly maintained car? Marami akong kakilala na ibinebenta nila yung sasakyan nila and ang RFS is that maga-abroad sila or kukuha sila ng bnew car even if hindi naman talaga. Kaya lang daw nila nasabi yun is to let the buyer think na they have no choice but to sell their "perfectly" working car.

When I bought my 2nd hand car more than 2 years ago, it took me 3 mos to fix the suspension problems that came with it. Akala ko pa at that time na I was getting a "super" deal since the engine is in pristine condition with very low mileage. Akala ko na kaya mababa ang mileage was because hindi mai-byahe ng malayo yung sasakyan due to its suspension problems (putol springs, super sayad)... akala ko rin na it can be cheaply fixed by Cruven, hahahaha..... Boy was I wrong!!! After a new set of H&R springs, KYB dampers and the normal 555/Federal Mogul suspension parts for tie rod/stab links/ball joint/cv joint, the car's handling now meet my expectations. Specially now na di na sya sumasayad kahit with heavy loads pa due to the O-sulee I installed sa rear. If prepared kang gumastos uli and mag-spend ng time para mag-ayos ng sasakyan to make it road-worthy according to your standards, why not. Else, save yourself the trouble and keep your non-problematic ESi.

Parang ang main reason mo yata for considering to sell your ESi is para makadagdag sa savings mo. Getting a car is not a sound decision financially. Kung gusto mong makaipon, benta mo yang ESi mo and learn to use and i-take advantage mo ang transportation system natin. Drawback lang naman ng public transportation is safety specially for females and those that travels regularly on un-Godly hours.

Mantakin mo yung savings na nakuha mo sana from commuting plus the money you spent on buying your ESi plus yung maintenance cost nito, baka naipang-negosyo mo na sana yun kahit maliit lang.

Do you really need a 2nd hand car lalo't may target ka yatang pagkakagastusan kaya mo naisipang makakita ng pangdagdag sa savings mo?

Thanks for your inputs, I guess I'll keep the ESi instead since I had its minor defects repaired already.

*ron - I get your point sir. It seems like all second hand units have hidden defects that you have to find out.

*macky - You're right sir, It's with me for almost 5 months pa lang. Due na nga siya for change oil/tune up, mga 400kms pa. Hehehe..

Pero pag morning shift naman ako and walang gimik, I take jeepneys.

Also, dream ko rin talaga magka kotse.

My next target is to have enough money so that it can serve as my downpayment to my future house and lot. Gusto ko kasi before 25 may lupa na sana ako eh. Hehehe..

Sorry for the long post, it's just that I've been thinking hard these past few days about how to save more money without sacrificing the
convenience of having a car to use during weekends for dates/gimiks.

Thank you sa mga inputs. I really appreciate it.

Sell my ESi to get a Series 3/4??
