    Hi tsikooters,

Ano ba magandang car within the price range of 1M-1.5M?

    Eto Choices ko:

    1. Hyundai Veloster

    2. Subaru Impreza 2.0R Sport

    3. Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT-A

Ok ba sila sa ride comfort, durability, parts and services?
At ano ang pros and cons ng 3 na ito? Gusto ko kasi malaman. Never owned a Mitsubishi and Subaru.
    Need help. thanks!

FYI, the 2.0R is on it's way out. Incoming is a more pedestrian/less sporty model.

    2. Subaru Impreza 2.0R Sport <- ride comfort, durability, services is good in casa. Very good actually. But of course trade off is parts. Few shops carry subaru parts, but there are shops out there. May subaruclub.ph forums, has a good selection.

    3. Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT-A <- durability, maraming parts sa labas, pero mahaba pila sa casa, just MAKE SURE you put the proper transmission oil in the CVT transmission. Wrong oil = dead CVT. :D, but that comes at 40k kms and 80k kms.

Veloster = rare, I'm sure parts will last the same as both of above., Rare rin yun parts.

For the 3 cars, I think it'll last until 90k kms before needing major repairs. You just need to follow the usual preventive maintainance.

Ano ba hinahanap mo in a car? Ang dami daming choices in that price range, depende nalang sa priority mo kung ano maganda.

Off the top of my head, here are good cars for me in that price range:

    Ford Focus TDCi (1.15M)
    Kia Sorento LX CRDi (1.33M)
    Kia Sportage EX CRDi (1.29M)
    Hyundai Tucson GL CRDi (1.38M)
    Toyota Camry 2.5G (1.45M)
    Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLS-V (1.45M)
    Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT-A (1.3M)
Mitsubishi Strada GLS Sport V (1.31M)
    Mazda CX-5 (1.45M)
    Hyundai Sonata GLS (1.38M)

These were the same cars that I was also choosing. Here is my opinion, the Impreza does not have a lot of power considering its 2.0 powerplant probably to due the AWD. But the driving dynamics and position is excellent. Build Quality is likewise impressive. Do remember however that the 2.0R has little available after market parts. The Lancer on the hand had more power and also good driving dynamics but I prefer the driving position of the Impreza compared to the Lancer. The build quality of the Lancer though is not as good as the Impreza. If I remember correctly the Veloster was around 1.5m when I asked Hancars last year, that's a lot of cash for a 1.6L car IMHO, wasn't able to test drive one but I felt that that the dashboard was too high. If you won't be modifying get the subbie, but if you'd later get into modifying then get the lancer instead (but then again I'll suggest to look at the FT 86 or GC).

Among your choices, go for the Subaru Impreza. Sporty handling and great balance. It has the best resale value.

Ibibigay mo na yung Grand Starex mo? Naks.

Going back, I'd pick the Impreza. Then the TDCi. Then the EX GTA.

After all, the first one is still an Impreza. Iba pa rin dating niyan kahit 2.0R, dress it up... game over na. ;)

Pwede rin yung TDCi, insanely fast and has good fuel economy. GTA because it looks good, in blue.

If you are looking at the Lancer EX GTA... I might also suggest you look at the Mitsubishi ASX 2.0 GLS. It has all the good stuff of the Lancer and more for only a few thousand more. Better seats, better interior, touchscreen headunit with GPS, nice ride...

Yung Kia Optima lalabas na! Lahat ng equipment ng Sonata Premium nandiyan at mas mura pa siya! Very masculine car I should say.

    Kia Optima
2.4-liter model with a six-speed, paddle-shift-equipped automatic gearbox that'll come with 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, dual airbags, fully automatic air-conditioning system, keyless entry, engine start/stop button, and panoramic sunroof

    P1.48 million

Malaki rin ba discount for the ASX? IIRC, the Lancer EX has a discount of over 100k right?

Grabe ang mura nung Optima. Kia is pricing everything so competitively this year. First, the Rio. Second, the Sorento LX. Then, the Sportage EX CRDi. Now, this.

    Hindi ko MUNA ibibigay.

Lately kasi nahirapan ako sa traffic. Medyo naiinis ako kasi hindi ako lagi nakakasingit. Hehehe

Anyway, hindi ko i ddress up ang mga naipili ko na cars. I love keeping them on stock.

Kailangan talaga bihisan yung Impreza 2.0R. Lalo na performance.

Baka kasi sibakin lang yan ng Focus TDCi. Haha!

150hp normally aspirated engine + full time AWD + 4 speed A/T results to poor gas mileage and uninspiring straight line performance. If the new one comes with CVT, gas mileage may improve but then that would drastically reduce the performance potential. I can almost visualize this being outdragged by one of them Accent CRDi cabs.

Speaking of dressed up Impreza 2.0R's, merong nakaganyan samin, malinis yung itsura - gold multi-spoke rims, fair enough drop, carbon fiber hood, pearl white.

The clincher? May hood scoop, wala namang turbo

Personally di ko feel yung Impreza 2.0, unless MT siguro. But then again, if I wanted a rally-inspired car, there's the better packaged Lancer EX.

Focus 2.0 TDCi pa rin though, or Mazda 3 2.0R, naaaliw talaga ko sa kotseng yun
