Hehehe, I perfectly got your point sir, actually self esteem is definitely beyond the issue cause my wife can even handle MT, pinag-iisapan lang po namin ang matic to make her more comfortable...anyway, thanks for the tip bout AT's fuel consumption over MT

By the way sir, bakit po ba nasasabing mas malakas sa fuel consumption ang AT over MT?
Im planning to get an AT po sana so my wife can drive it, pero sa mga inputs nyo po and due to drastically (and consistent) oil price hikes Im now having a second thought kung AT pa rin ang kukunin namin, baka mag-manual na lang kami. Thanks po
Kaya naman yan. 1.6L parin kahit papano. If you still feel short on power, siguro mag engine mods ka nalang.

It is worthy of note though that the 5 door Vitara 1.6A/T is a heavy drinker. May kamag-anak kami meron nun. He's not very into cars so I couldn't ask him the km/L reading pero sabi niya malakas talaga sa gas.

Merong thread about A/T versus M/T dito, marami kang malalaman. Mas OK siguro if you will let your wife adjust to the car instead of the car adjusting to your wife. Its for the best and much more economical in the long run.

A little watch-out on the Vitara. These were previous options for our sales mgrs back in the early 2000. Those who got these acquired 2001, 2002, complained of high fuel consumption for a 1.6liter SUV. Similar complaint to those who got the then new 2003s 2.0liter gen2 CRVs. Both were matic though.

An uncle of mine had a '93 Vitara with the 1.6L engine and manual transmission, but retrofitted a Volkswagen/Audi 1.6L diesel. Considering reliability and cross-country abilities, I'd rather get a Vitara over a RAV-4 everytime. Overall comfort was not bad for the Vitara too.

Thanks

Copy that sir cripple_rooster, from the recommendations of our fellow tsikoteers they also preferred vitara over rav4. Thanks

Sir renzo, I overlooked your last statement. CRV is not included in our lists but we can consider if we will be educated.
Btw, I opened a new thread, Vitara vs CRV (95 - 98 model)...needs your advices again mga sir. Ty

I would rather avoid the V6 versions of the Vitara and the Grand Vitara. But, if you're now considering the CR-V, it does worth to take a look at an early diesel Grand Vitara with the Mazda RF 2.0L turbodiesel.
