I understand if the looks of the car is an important factor for you even if you did not write it.
But if you are working on a strict budget, might as well lower your standard sa aesthetics and prioritize the needs.

Madami nag-suggest ng Mirage A4. Why not look at it sa dealership.
Kung okay lang sa iyo bare model, tingnan mo din Vios.

Alam mo dilemma talaga natin yang struct budget na yan. Kasi unang napapansin naman talaga ay yung panlabas na anyo ng sasakyan. Eh kalimitan yung, magaganda, lagpas sa budget hahaha.

Why not choose a lower variant and go for an MT? Pasok sa budget mo yung Ciaz after discounts. Even the entry level Ertiga. Mas matipid ka pa sa gas kasi manual, and your PMS cost will be lower than those with ATs. Since sa Laguna ka naman, traffic I guess is much better compared to our hellish conditions here in Metro Manila.

I second the MT Ertiga if it really needs to be brand new.

But if I were in your shoes I'd look at model 2016 bank repossessed car. I think these are also available on a financing scheme.

Mirage G4 GLX CVT din sa tingin kong pasok sa criterias mo bro. Natry mo na bang mag tingin sa dealership? And test drive? My officemate has one, hindi naman sya mukhang bitin i drive, I am actually surprised kasi I did not expect much dahil nga 1.2 engine, pero kung tapakan mo naman yung gas, ibibigay naman nya agad. Apat kami nakasakay. Di ko lang sure if sasagarin ng limang tao kung may noticeable effect na sa arangkada. About sa fuel consumption, based from my officemate's input, tipid daw talaga sya. Mixed driving nasa 12-16kmpl daw. Not sure if totoo, pero sa mga nababasa ko naman online, mukhang totoo naman, kasi madaming nag vovouch na tipid talaga sya, so I guess that's a big plus too, since isa yun sa criteria na hanap mo.

You've also mentioned that it would mostly be driven by your girlfriend. I guess eto na yung isa sa pinaka pasok sa budget mo na AT transmission. Plus you could haggle or scout naman for best deals and biggest discounts para yung natipid nyo is mapunta sa ibang importante ding bagay or sa mga Mods kung gusto mo pa pa pogiin yung sasakyan. Since ako aaminin ko, unang tingin ko kay Mirage G4, hindi ako nagandahan, mukha syang 2008 gen Vios. Pero nung tumagal na lagi ako nakakakita ng G4, pumogi sya sa paningin ko, lalo na yung mga White G4s na may Duck tail Spoilers and mga naka Alloy Wheels. So if concern mo din is yung itsura, you'd learn to love it naman in time.

Pero if willing mag-aral ng manual yung girlfriend mo. Then you'll get to have more choices.

Since manual transmission medyo makakatipid ka ng gas kay Avanza. Matakaw kasi yung 1.3 AT. And mas matangkad din ng konti si Avanza, though medyo matagtag nga lang and mdyo shaky at high speeds, pero kung more on family purpose yung car. Bat ka naman mag ddrive ng high speeds kung kasama mo pamilya mo.

I cannot say much about the Ertiga, apart from the interior and ride feel (as passenger), parang sedan lang sya. Mas gusto ko interior ni Ertiga kesa kay Avanza, and mukhang mas less yung tagtag feeling sa lubak or maybe imagination ko lang.

if you need the second row seats for larger people like regular adults, get the mirage, po.
i personally think the swift's 2nd row is for kids and grocery bags. masikip!
subukan nyo po. baka sakaling kasya at kumportable ang intended passengers nyo.

btw, there's a 3-cylinder almera going for 630K, and a basic vios for about the same price. you might be interested in these.

If ikaw or isang passenger lang, and mga bata sa likod, pasok na pasok yang dalawang options mo, plus I'd go with the Swift, reason ko is 4 cylinder kasi sya vs. 3 cylinder ni mirage, pero hindi naman kinakapos si mirage yun nga lang medyo maingay yung engine (di ako sure, pero baka dahil 3 cylinders, kaya medyo maingay?). Tsaka parang mas napopormahan ako sa itsura ni Swift, parang may pag ka mini cooper tignan (pero subjective naman to, beauty is in the eye of the beholder haha).

Pero if balak mo magsakay ng mga adults sa likod at laging madaming luggage or gamit, I suggest look for other options.

Since mukhang Manual Transmission naman target mo. Pwede mo lawakan mo options mo like the ffg:

*Vios 1.3 J (Power windows and central lock na ata tong J eh 2016 pataas)

*Suzuki Ertiga MT (Eto maganda ganda interior, di ko na drive, nakasakay lang ako, mas less tagtag yung feeling kesa sa Avanza)

Salamat Sir. First car ko sana to just in case. Pang everyday use lang po wala naman mabibigat na ilalagay, cguro mga 2 to 3 passengers. Or pag uuwi lang kami ng misis ko sa province ganun. Gusto ko din sana yung matibay at reliable hehe. I will consider also Vios J or if malaki discount bka vios 1.3 E MT pwede din.

these are all subjective, po.
"yung iba naman kasi, bibili ng minicar, and are disappointed that the ride is not camry-smooth."
there are always trade-offs, po. your job, is to see if the trade-offs are acceptable.
you should go test-drive them and see for yourself.

what do i like? a late-model altis! kahit second hand, para pumasok sa budget...

i personally own a 2016 Mirage G4 GLX CVT at meron din akong 2015 Mirage Hatchback GLX CVT noon and yes maingay ang makina compared sa mga 4-cylinder cars/sedans in the market. Not only maingay ang makina, pati loob ng sasakyan madalas dinig mo ang ingay sa labas. I was torn between Vios E, Honda Brio Amaze at Suzuki Swift pero i opted to get the Mirage G4 again after madeclare as total loss ng insurance yung dating Mirage Hatchback ko. Here's what I did, compare all units by Price, Features (e.g power windows, central lock, immobilizer, alarm etc.) Fuel Consumption, Parts Availability and Comfort (for passengers) at higit sa lahat dapat MATIC (CVT). hth!
