Yes it consumes more fuel, to the tune of an extra 1.5k/month, but I don't mind paying for more power. And besides, it'll take 35 years to recoup the price difference of the CRV vs an Ecosport. [emoji28]

How far is your daily commute para macompute natin expense mo sa gas. The last thing you want is iiwan mo ung oto sa bahay at maging flower vase/trophy car na lang sya dahil ala ka na pera pang gas. Or sacrifice ang starbucks at ilalagay na lang sa gas or maintenace. Hehe..

I used one for a time, I got around 6-7 km/L in city driving. Basically at par with most 2-liter sedans/CUVs.

At 450k it's a bit pricey since you can already get a 2.4 AWD at that price (much less efficient though). Unless the car is in pristine condition, I'll try to haggle lower.

Assuming you get an Ecosport which is smaller, slower, and cheaper-looking than the 2009 CRV and the Ecosport does 8-9 km/L in city driving. The fuel savings is about 1.5k per month. In comparison, a brand new Ecosport costs 875k, so that's a 425k difference. In other words, even if the CRV is less efficient, it'll take 21 years before you can breakeven with the Ecosport.

So really, it's a no-brainer if fuel efficiency is your only consideration.

    Hi again!

I'm looking for a car for my senior citizen folks. It will be used mostly for city driving, with occasional out of town trips. My dad can still drive his old ford expedition, but i no longer think it is appropriate for someone his age to drive such a big car. Medyo broad pa ang choices ko, basically looking at a list of crossover cars (ayaw na nila sumakay sa sedan). So i need help in narrowing down the choices, based on the ff criteria:

    1. Budget is about 800k-1.2M
    2. Plus point kung diesel, pero okay din naman kung gas
    3. Cheaper maintenance
    4. Bigger trunk space

My primary consideration is an HRV. But i've heard it has lower ground clearance compared to other cuv's?

    Please help. Thanks in advance!

Are your folks ok with a 2nd hand car? You can get a 3 year old Subaru Forester NA or XT for 600-1M. My folks are senior citizens as well and they got an XT for 1M. They really enjoy taking it on long trips.

I'm okay with a 2nd hand car, but i think they're not I like the looks of XT, mukhang sakto for them. But a brand new subaru is way over my budget. As for the toyota rush, it is within budget, but i have yet to see it in the flesh. Maybe will visit toyota and mitsubishi (xpander?) sometime.

Any tips on where i can get a reliable source of second hand cars?
