BMW 525i for drivers, MB 260E for passengers. BUt be carful, we used to have one 1990 525i and medyo madami problems sya, a Friend who also has a 1994 525i would tell you the same thing. Its fun to drive but problems seem to creep up sooner or later, the Benz on the other hand is quite a bulletproof car. Built quality is just so solid. Try to get a 230CE para mas maporma althought might be underpowered for some.

    kung exterior lang...IMHO

    w124 vs E34 ...w124 ako..astig pa rin hanggang ngayon.

pero kung yung sumunod na generation...

    w210 vs E39...sibak ang w210.

odell, alam mo ba kung anong 5 series yung pinaguusapan dito? baka akala mo yung E39? or yung bagong 5?..hehehe

Based On Experience I Prefer The Bmw 525. I Had A Merc And I Ahd A Tons Of Problems With It. Aside From The Price Of The Car. I Shelled Out Almost 300 Thou For The Transmission Problems And Wiring Harness. Thats The Prblems Of Merc The Wiring Harness. Bt When I Have This Bmw 523 I Never Had Any Problems Whatsoever . Butof Cors Dont Get Me Wrong I Experienced Some Problems But Eventhough It Cost The Case Around 70 To Hav It Fix The Stability And Dependability Of The Bmw Is Great. Especially The Air Suspension Of The 523 Nice Ride Talaga.

from experience ... bmws has greater reliabilty and are less prone to problems than the benz counterparts ...

we have a 316i e36 and a 525i e39 bmw and until now it hasnt caused us any pains and troubles naman ... we are very satisfied talaga ... unlike the benz counterparts of our models na my friends has .. dami nila reklamo from breaking down to electrical problems ... and the price of parts are just staggering ... imagine an s-class whose air suspension gave up ... it costs a couple of grands to fix ... and another case a change oil of our friends sl55 amg .. cost 60k ...

i think the decision will depend on your age.

Hindi pa kami nag-hilamos at hindi pa napapadetail since it was acquired more than 10 years ago. The thing just seems to run on its own.

hmmm..bulletproof pala, di na ako mag worry sa terrorist attack...hehehe.

Kinda confuse so many variants I see on the road ng model na ito. Like the thread starter I too was thinking of a Bimmer for retirement car kaya lang they have no diesel engine variant ng year model na ito. I have seen how my cousin Ferdie maintains a W124 of his bro in law and the spare parts prices are just right (for my budget) and almost at par with japanese cars. Is there a chart on how to determine whether it's a US or German Version, advantages and disadvantages of each variants. I would prefer the diesel a/t and anu kaya ang fuel consumption nito.

Mods if OT paki start another thread nalang, thanks.

get the manual model.I'm not familiar with w124 diesel engine but from what i heard its bulletproof,if you change your mind and what to get a gas model i can help you with that.W124 gas model has 2 engines, the M103 and M104 engine both suffer from head gasket problem.M103 engine also has problem with valve guides and seals you also need to check the timing chain. Also check front and rear seals.

kidding aside, if you want to test drive my 2001 325, i'm very willing to let you. it's a pleasure to be on the passenger seat while Bossing is driving.
